  • £300 dd went onto cc1 this morning. My total debt is now £4680
    It's very slowly going down.
Will pay an extra £300 on pay day when I get my bonus and then will try and pay more than £400 next month. So I should be below £4K by March.

I've been clearing out my flat ready to move and found loads of things I don't want anymore. I wish it was summer so I could do a car boot sale.

No idea how I'm going to clear it by June :(

  • Finally heard from our solicitor last night with enquiries from our buyers solicitor. This is literally the first time our buyers solicitor has made contact with ours. At last!! I have no idea the answers to any questions but at least there's some progression.
Then today my solicitor emails me telling me my management company want another £240 to release documents!! :(
I swear they just make these charges up as they go along.
Just as I thought we were getting somewhere and starting to build up the savings pot again and there's more spending :(
I'm sure this won't be the last surprise payment :(

  • So we have £110 left in our house fund... I hope nothing else pops up now.
We are going to the new house site on Saturday to look at flooring options. If we go with the builders flooring we have to order and pay for it by 25th Feb which isn't going to happen because we are broke but it's good to get an idea on costs. I have no clue how much carpets and flooring costs but we are thinking between £7-£10k.???
All our money is tied up in our flat. So until we sell it we are poor.

We have a few spend things coming up this month.. We are going out for a meal for Valentines day. Hubby is treating me. Our flat is all boxed up at the moment so will be nice to go out. Haven't been out on Valentines for years! We normally stay in with an M&S meal :)
Our friend is in the army and going away for a few months so he is having a leaving lunch at a pub in a few weeks.
March is my Mum's, Brothers and Husbands birthday so that always messes up my budget and debt paying. One day I will be prepared for March!
Other than that we are really trying to curb our spending. We know all the extras for the house are going to add up. Plus we have our big Florida holiday coming up! We have $500 cash left over from New York and £200 in savings for it. The balance for the holiday is due on 1st March and we are a few hundred off with one pay day to go...

I haven't caught up on your whole diary yet but re the flooring costs, we got a large livingroom anf large entrance hallway fitted with grey laminate, carpet for the stairs, large top landing and master bedroom and laminate for the kitchen and downstairs loo fitted for £1000. You can definitely find a good deal here. For 7-10k id be expecting gold plated floorboards! Haha

Flooring costs all depend on your square meterage and the level of quality you choose - We went all out in terms of pile depth for our bedroom and hall stairs and landing at our old house and it was £500 for the 2 including fitting and the thickest underlay :)
We could have got it cheaper if we ordered the carpet online but were very pleased with our local independent carpet shop. The options are so exciting, enjoy!
