Hitting milestones is the BEST feeling, well done!!
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭
  • Thanks Abba and Kirsty. It is a great feeling but still feel so far off my target.

I've worked out that if I keep paying off £400 a month then I will be debt free in February 2018.

However, part of the terms of my mortgage is that I will clear my debt before the mortgage starts which will be May/June when the house is built. Plus the fact I so badly want to be debt free before we move and start fresh.

I thought it would be doable because we are going to live with my parents whilst our house is being built but the sale of my flat is taking longer than it should.
The sooner it's sold I can stop paying for it and use that money towards debt instead.
I thought I would have 3-4 months of not paying for my flat but now it's looking like 2 months. So I would be lucky to pay an extra £1000 towards debt.

I currently pay £400 a month so by June will only be down to £3500 which is way off.
I pay £350 a month into my holiday fund and I'm only £180 off my target now so once that is paid I will pay an extra £350 towards debt each month but that's still not enough.

Even once the flat is sold it won't be a case of payments just stopping coz we will still have outstanding payments once accounts have been calculated.

I need to be paying over £1000 a month to clear it but I don't know where that money will come from. I can't plan or budget because I have no idea when our flat sale will go through or what our final bills will be. Plus we have extra expenses like removal companies and storage and solicitors fees etc :(

  • Went back to work yesterday but still feeling rough :(

The money transfer I did from cc1 went into my account yesterday. At first glance I got all excited thinking I had been gifted £2000 but then I realised it was the transfer and it was a cost of £30. I'm going to use the money to pay off the original balance transfer on cc1. I phoned them up to check it would work. Seems crazy borrowing from a card to pay off the same card. I've done plenty of balance transfers before but never a cash one. So glad I was able to do it though coz it's only a 1.5% fee and I didn't need to open a new card :)
I better pay it onto my card before I accidently spend it!

Out after work tonight for work drinks. All paid for which is nice :) not that I feel up to it though :(

  • Found out today that I'm getting my bonus in February pay. About £300 after tax. Every little helps!! Annoying I have to wait to the end of the month but better than not all :)

  • It's the weekend!!! So happy. Been a very spendy week. Got a lot of family birthdays in March so a lot of money has gone towards gifts.
Going to our friends house tonight for a takeaway but no big plans for the weekend.

Everything with the sale of our flat is going so slow. All up to date our end but our buyers solicitor is so slow. Says they can't give any indication of how long it will take. What does that mean?!!

  • Woo I just remembered that we pay our council tax over 10 months so we don't pay it in February or March! :)
Just transferred £150 into our moving fund. We now have £350 in there. Need to save money to hire a removal van and two strong men!

Did our weekly food shop yesterday which came to £40 but we had a £5 voucher so it came to £35 which isn't bad.
My husbands mum is coming to dinner tonight so we are going to make a roast with food we already had in. A lot of the veg we use is frozen.

Still not feeling 100% so trying to take it easy this weekend.
The take away at our friends on Friday night came to £5 each :)
