Having a B list at a wedding

How much money are you going to save by offending these people, as it's almost certainly going to offend them if you send an evening invite? Is it worth with compared to what you are spending on cake, flowers, cars, favours and other things that won't last years? Just remember this could be something they remember about you and your day for a long time.
Maybe cancel the popcorn machine or the candy floss stall? Or have a slightly smaller fireworks display?0 -
Surely if you're short of money there are other ways you can cut back without humiliating your guests? Many things people seem to include in weddings these days are entirely superfluous and can be ditched.0

Like millions of guests? They used to be lovely family affairs with parents/siblings and children and best friends and now they include oodles of estranged, barely known rellies and vague acquaintances from all over and no children.. And pretentious locations, castles and the like.. When I find someone who thinks I am good enough I'm not telling anyone I'm just getting married and getting on with life.. hahaha.

My reaction - oh, God, not another wedding thread from Andrew!

We tried very hard for just two witnesses and their partners, but darn it, mum found out so invited herself and a few good friends were kinda peeved so we ended up inviting 20, and 40 showed up :rotfl:
Good job I always over cater

Kinda off topic, but I have to laugh at people talking about giving STD to guests. I know it means save the date, but I'm just imagining wedding guests sitting down for their fancy meal, and getting a free dose of chlamydia!0

We had a few people turn up who had heard about the wedding on the grapevine. Friends of my wife's family and a lady who used to babysit her.
We had a rather informal wedding, so they were made very welcome.0 -

Mine was so informal and low key, the local dog walkers popped in for a while as well
Everyone was welcome, I just never envisaged so many wanting to come. As I say it was just to be six of us and it kinda snowballed
We had a lunch time wedding and a bit of a do in the garden I seriously thought it would be all over by 4pm, it was 4am :eek:0 -
It comes across to me as 'now that I'm getting married, I can be the centre of the world, so people, make note of my special day and make sure you give you ultimate priority' to 'actually, I don't care about you much, certainly not enough to add another few £££ that in light of the whole thing won't make much of a difference but because I'm centre of the world, I'm sure you'll understand'.
Very self-centered attitude. You've made a mistake by rushing in your enthusiasm, you now need to face the consequences. Of course, there might be a number of people who won't be able to make it anyway, so your numbers might add up in the end.0 -
