Do the signs say how they are going to check for tax status? They have no lawful right to use the online tax checker if they're not the vehicle's owner or keeper.

You can check Tax and MOT lawfully;

but not insurance, (other than your own).

Check if a vehicle is taxed before you report it - this is a free service. You don’t have to report the vehicle to DVLA if it’s taxed but not showing the tax disc. Only report a vehicle that’s either untaxed or registered as SORN and parked on a public road.

<sigh> Losing the argument, so change the argument, same old, same old.

And these terms and conditions - https://www.gov.uk/help/terms-conditions make no mention of "commercial gain".

According to this you can use the information commercially:-

(I'm not keen on the wording, "exploit the Information commercially and non-commercially").
