The offence was no tax only. Forget about the permit. Thanks

I'd be inclined to reply asking for evidence that it isn't taxed. It'd be interesting to see what they say, as I'm not convinced they have any legal route to check.

then how come ACE use their ATA status to obtain info from the DVLA for a non parking offence?

and since when can a private parking Co take a person to the county court for not having VED?

That's what I was thinking. Surely that's DVLAs job?

A lot of communal parking areas have a requirement on parking that the vehicle must be taxed. They don't care about lack of VED in the same way VOSA would, they just want their £100 for the breach of alleged contract. No doubt they'll try and issue a ticked daily about it too.

but the companies they are using (ace in this case) are accessing the DVLA database for drivers info in a non parking context

I'm not sure it isn't a parking issue; it's (presumably) a condition of parking.

I'm not saying it's a valid condition, properly contracted or in anyway enforceable, but this is still a parking invoice for "no tax", rather than a VOSA fine for no tax.

I'm more curious as to how ace have determined the car is untaxed. Because they'd need to know that before contacting the keeper for the details. I'd also be interested to see what justification ace provided as the reason for the request (if one is even needed under the automated KADOE system).

I'm assuming they've looked it up in a dodgy way, and haven't told the DVLA that's what it's about, as I don't think they are legally entitled to check in the first place.
