:rotfl:Boris just left his house......loads of chanting 'Tory Scum'.........we are a country divided..........totally riven down the middle.....and the tories are tacking back to the right....who will now grab the centre ground? Meanwhile Donald Trump lands and is serenaded up the steps to his new golf course by the pipers.
sadly the intolerant left in action again0 -
I think part of the reason for the result is that people no longer beleive politicans at all. IN the campaign many remain supporters, particuarly the PM claimed that we could remain and control immigration which was patently unture. Centering the campaign on a lie made it easy for leave to dismiss every other 'fact' and 'forecast' as being 'well they would say that'.
I don't know how we can restore faith in our politicians, they have obviously become skilled marketeers because that seems to work better than Corbyn style paying lip service to honesty. And given international results it is clearly not just a UK problem.I think....0 -
That you lot are nuts.
Don't blame me. Blame the idiot patrol.
They are talking in the news about how the country will be reunited. Well the simple answer is it won't be.
I am genuinely looking forward to seeing how these tools are going to get themselves out of the mess they have voted for.
They deserve absolutely everything they get.0 -
looks to me the ftse is up on much of the year
It is actually down on the year (both the year to date and the calendar year), but further to that, I think one could argue that there has been a drag on the ftse caused by Brexit for some time, It isn't just about today's fall. But that said I think that it could have been a lot lower this morning, so my disappointment isn't as bad as I envisaged, but still plenty time for things to get worse of course.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Is this the first time Betfair et al have got it completely wrong on political betting? They are usually much more accurate than opinion polls.
I suspect this referendum was unique in attracting the politically disenfranchised who don't usually bother voting. Obviously it is perilous for many reasons to ignore these people. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

I thought remain would win, that project fear would ultimately prove successful as every threat was weaponised by remain to frighten us into submission. That people would be too timid to withstand the constant onslaught, day after day and would eventually buckle and vote Remain.
I was wrong. The great British public knew what was right. In their hearts they knew the EU was not for them and made a courageous decision against the advice of all the so called 'experts'
I salute the great British public. Well done. :TIf I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

So refreshing to see the Remain camp accepting defeat with such good grace.
BTW, what happened to the 20% fall in the pound, the ftse falling below 5000. Any idea when Osborne will be presenting his emergency budget? Or has it been quietly forgotten.
Whether the budget is as bad as he indicated it would be remains to be seen (pun unintended). Undoubtedly a new budget needs to be passed this year, and by definition that would be an emergency budget. The previous two budgets were based on assumptions which are no longer valid.
That's not a political comment on the wisdom of the decision to Leave the EU by the way, or even a suggestion that the new budget will be "better" or "worse" than previous ones (subjective terms of course). But it's a simple fact that the economic outlook has changed significantly as a result of the vote to leave, and that taxation and spending will need to be re-evaluated as a result.0 -
now that the decision is made, why would the tories lurch to the right? That would be political suicide.
The Tory remainers don't want that and the leave vote was delivered by the left leaning north after all...
Perhaps the tories (and labour) will realise that since the next government needs to bring the country back together, a move to the centre of politics is what is required.
Perhaps i am just overly optimistic....
Hopefully you are right....because looking at the voting ....it was the left behind labour areas all over the country that went Brexit big time. The problem we have is how can a shrinking economy help them? Such people have also made themselves vulnerable to the results of a tory election taking place over the next few months.
By the way Corbyn needs to go. He's not a leader either.0 -

I salute the great British public. Well done. :T[/QUOTE]
The problem is it's half of the great British public you are congratulating and a lot of them are split between UKIP and the Tory right anyway. The sands are shifting and we'll have no effective government for the forseeable future.
Meanwhile there are soundings being taken for a challenge to Corbyn within the parliamentary Labour Party. He's got to go surely!0
