I normally get some success negotiating my renewal. This time, there was very little movement from their starting position.   Currently paying £75.50 for Signature, Ultimate, Sports, Cinema and the HD/Ultra addons.   This was going up to £111.50.

First call reduced this to £95.50.  Second call £91.50.  The cancellations team offered £90.50.

Broadband was appalling. Currently £29 for 75mb.  First offer was £43 for 75 mb.  Second offer was £34 for the 150mb.  Third offer was more focused on an upsell to faster speeds. Given a new customer can get a fixed price 24 month contract for £27 this seems very odd tactics.

I got an automated email as I was completing my move to Vodafone offering me the 75mb for £27 if I stayed, which was too little too late.

Looking forward to either leaving Sky in 31 days or receiving a compelling offer.

Are Sky sending the price increase letters by post or email as I have received nothing yet and my price is due to increase on 7 April, though I am planning to leave anyway.
Also, by my calculation they seem to be increasing my bill by more than 10% as I am only on Signature @ £36.50-£5+£4 discounts meaning I am paying £27.50, it increases to £31.50 on 7 April, even if you calculate the rise on the full amount it is more than a 10% increase.  They already applied a £4 increase last year, saying they had not increased the previous year when I was on a £19 fix, so what they are now proposing is a ridiculous increase from £19 to £31.50 in 18 months approx.
When would I need to cancel to make sure I don't get the price increase as I can give 31 days notice as not in a contract, to my calculation it would be before 7 March.

Is there no law - stating what the maximum allowable tariff increase is allowed to be ?
Seemingly - they can state a price and then 6 months later, increase by whatever they like and because you are in contract - you have no choice other than to pay ?
Mobile phone contracts are limited in tariff increases to CPI + 3.9% AND THEY MUST STATE THE RATE FOR THE REST OF YOUR CONTRACT !
Its about time that the regulator did similar with sky.

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

NOW (part of Sky) did similar on a cancellation call; told them it was too late for that. Can't see many customers exercising their cooling off period with their new provider which is what they'd have to do after being mucked about.

Re Sky TV, Under my Sky T&C's it states this -

"Paying for your Sky services and your bill
Unless we tell you otherwise, prices and services may vary, including during the minimum term. We will let you know about any material changes and your options before we make them.
In your minimum term, Sky TV prices may increase by up to 10% of the standard price once every 12 months. These limits do not apply to other Sky services."

So I would say if yours goes up by more than 10% you have reason to query.  However I am not sure if they could technically increase say Signature 9%, Sport 9%, Cinema 9% in an individual way rather than the whole package.  This is only TV, I don't have their broadband.

    Hi all,

Long time Sky TV and Broadband subscriber who's become disgruntled by the relentless price creeping, especially the annual above inflation rises which seems unjustifiable.

Both TV and Broadband were disconnected on Monday this week.

Am I likely to get any sort of contact from a 'Welcome Back' team based on current experiences?

Barring a pretty significant offer I think it's time to try life without for a few months and see how we get on.

    Any advice gratefully received.

It’s been nearly 2 months since I cancelled Sky (after 26 years with them) and have only had one communication since termination day. This was last Friday.

I haven’t phoned them (and don’t intend to) as my combination of an EE Pro box and an AppleTV box with a few subscriptions covers all my needs for a fraction of the cost.

    Thanks, really helpful.

I will look at EE TV again.

I confess I was getting slightly confused with how this interacts with NOW TV.

Sport is my big one - so concern would be lack of UHD Sky Sports and any latency issues with NOW. But not sure if that's an issue via an EE TV pro box.

Many thanks again for your help

Just to clarify, I don’t have EE TV, I just use an EE Pro box for all the terrestrial Freeview channels (my wife wanted something as simple as Q, that could record and fortunately most of her viewing is channels on Freeview).

I then have the AppleTV box which I use with TV Launcher and pay for Discovery+, Prime (already had for the deliveries) and NowTV (which I share the log-ins with my daughter). Discovery+ costs £2.99 a month, Prime is annual at about £90 (which I exclude as I was already paying for it when I had Sky) and NowTV Entertainment and Sports is split between us, I give her £15 a month.

My viewing now costs £18 a month compared to >£60 a month Sky wanted even before the forthcoming price increase.

Had you arranged a new broadband supplier ?
If not ,you may struggle to get a new connection in a timely fashion as the preferred route is to cancel TV but pre-arrange a switch to the new ISP WITHOUT cancelling the Sky broadband package.
There may be restrictions on your local exchange that means that you would have to opt for a "full fibre" package (if you weren't already on an FTTP connection)
