Hi all. Received a text message (27.1.25) asking me to get in touch about my cancellation.Only got in touch today (6.2.25) with 10 days to go before the end of TV as I know it.
Just finished a 1 hour 45 mins online chat. Have now got a deal I'm happy with. Was given 3 different prices today but wasn't interested until they got it below £100/month. I'm sure there are better prices out there but now I can keep all the recordings on my 2TB Sky Q box (It's 86% full........yes i know!).
    So here's the deal:
    Signature                 £24.50
Ultimate                   £10.99 (No ads on Netflix)
    Sports + HD            £11  + £0
    Cinema                    £13
    HD                           £4
    Multiroom                £10
B/B                          £24  (reduced speed to Full Fibre 100 as Superfast not needed)

    Totalling  £97.49

Why pay full price for Netflix through sky for the same price you can get is direct? By paying Netflix direct you get a month on month contract so you can stop or pause any time you want and it won't go up in April. I tried the £4.99 with ads option and have found there are hardly any ads and many programmes have no ads at all so have no need to upgrade.

I didn't have Netflix before it was a Sky option but I've found I like it!! However, I think I get more Sky channels with the Ultimate add-on (Sky Witness, Documentaries, Sci-Fi etc.
Plus with the new price increase Netflix just announced, I think I'll be getting it cheaper than a separate subscription. Also I HATE ads and to be honest, I was sick of haggling! I take your point about turning streaming subs on and off and I do this for Apple TV+ (never paid for this yet) and Disney+ (used Clubcard vouchers).
I was more miffed with the full price for Sky Cinema as I'd been offered it for £9 in an earlier negotiation but Sky Sports was more expensive with that offer, so I still come out a little bit ahead.
  • Not sure whether this is the right place to post this.

Switched from BT to Sky four years ago and been more than happy with the very basic freeview "Essentials" media package from them. We're old fashioned and don't want much TV - very happy with books, papers etc.

Just recently after Christmas, the service seemed to lose some channels including BBC1. Been told by a neighbour it may have been due to a birdstrike on the dish putting it out of alignment. Tried to troubleshoot things with the help of on-screen instructions but nothing seems to work.

Have rung Sky, only to be told that the box they provided is now obsolete and that, for an engineer's visit to sort it all out, we would have to be on a higher paying tariff as the new box is not compatible with the Essentials package.

Can anyone advise me on this? Are we being strung along?
    Hi
Why not google something like this and see what comes up 'can a trader reposition my sky satellite dish Bristol'

Also as far as the tech stuff and a free to view box I would go to Richer Sounds and have a chat to the sales person there.  Usually very helpful and specialise in TV stuff - they may even know a trader to realign your dish.

How long ago does "ex Sky Manager" mean. I seem to recall seeing this before. From my personal experience and also seeing posts on various forums this structure was probably correct 6-12 months ago. But most posts over the last 3-6 months have not been this good, and I wonder where prices will land after April price increase?

The prices have not only not been that good, but Sky representatives, with the exception of the enthusiastic first tier, have been sullen and distinctly lacked effort trying to retain customers.

This is a trend being reported by members of another forum.

When I cancelled ~7 months ago ,in the 30 day period, my offer for Signature/Sports/HD was ~ £12pm more than quoted by mits999. I suspect that my offer might have been better if I had taken Cinema as the rep seemed keen to flog it.
My next renewal date is this December - doesn't seem likely I'll be staying after the recent price announcements - Signature has little of interest and Sky are losing Sports hand over fist!!

This is where we're at too - renewed last summer on 18 months, expiring in December. I really can't see us renewing.

Just spoke with the 'pending cancel' team and got the following prices:
    signature £26.50
    HD £5
    sky sports £15
    sky sports HD £2
    ultra hd £3
    cinema £13
    multiscreen £12
    TNT £28
    Netflix £10.99
    (Admin fee + £20)

I left it as cancelled.  No idea what Sky are thinking, but I'll never be paying those prices.  Virgin Media are offering significant deals for new customers, with 350mb broadband I can get most of the above (minus UHD which I'm not fussed about) for less than £83pm.  The family lose their recorded items on Sky Q but, its considerably cheaper than paying Sky's rip off charges.

Just be careful what you wish for when it comes to VM.

Absolutely horrendous unreliable service. That goes for both TV and internet.
  • In view of the excellent advice here, my plan was to cancel my Sky BB + TV via online chat (they did offer me some money off but as expected it wasn't enough).

I was then going to get a new BB supplier lined up, and take my chances with TV, see what the post-cancellation offers from Sky might be.

However, the representative said that the way to cancel is to sign up with a new supplier who will automatically switch me. That sort of took the wind out of my sails as I was planning to sit back and wait. How do I cancel rather than switch? Or do I switch and wait for a better Sky offer during the 14-day cooling off period?
