  • I think the VM complaints are about CS rather than reliability. The issue is they outsource to foreign countries and it can be very difficult to communicate with them when you need to but it is only ever at recontract time that most of us have to deal with them. I think I may have had no more than 2 outages in the last 20 years and no more than a few hours each.

after 18yrs of my parents with sky. Played their bluff and asked for cancellation. The retentions offer was actually 50p more than the standard offer I was offered!
They have received a cancellation email. Should they receive any offer via email or where on the sky account page would they be offered any special offers to stay?
  • Are your parents OK with streaming via their TV?  Sky does have a very intuitive, easy to use interface.  Their TV interface prob isn't as easy to use.

Freeview box?  May provide a better interface.  Just a thought.  Likely your parents will be quids in by cancelling if they are OK with streaming.

My Freesat recording box is pretty much the same as my Sky Q was, maybe 95% as good on the UI, but if you go backwards in time in the planner it will link to the relevant streaming service.

Just nearly had a heart attack when I realised my Sky offers had ended and next month's bill was going up from £107 to £161!
    Package is now:-
    Signature                 £35
    Ultimate                   £8
    Sports +HD              £33 +£2
    Cinema                    £13
    HD                           £9
    Multiroom                £15
    Full Fibre B/B          £46      Totalling  £161

Have just come off Sky Chat (which ended unexpectedly without confirmation of cancellation) and was offered the following:-
    Signature                 £24.50
    Ultimate                   £10.50
    Sports + HD            £24  + £0
    Cinema                    £10
    HD                           £5
    Multiroom                £13
    B/B                          £34      Totalling  £121

Have priced up Virgin Media which is £79 for a comparable package so definitely not going ahead with this!
Having to pay extra for HD is just ridiculous when broadcasters are all starting to provide HD programmes as standard and all TV's are HD now.
When did watching TV become so expensive???? Hoping that Mits999 knows what they're talking about as I've got a box full of recordings I'd be loathe to lose!

Got back in touch by Chat to confirm cancellation, but it hadn't been actioned. After waiting for 45 minutes to get through, I was disconnected and had to start again. Luckily got straight through this time and was then offered a total price of £115. Still too high for telly!! Have now cancelled the TV bit (31 days notice) but the broadband only had 14 days notice so am waiting a couple of weeks to cancel this.
Will keep you all updated :))) !!
Hi all. Received a text message (27.1.25) asking me to get in touch about my cancellation.Only got in touch today (6.2.25) with 10 days to go before the end of TV as I know it.
Just finished a 1 hour 45 mins online chat. Have now got a deal I'm happy with. Was given 3 different prices today but wasn't interested until they got it below £100/month. I'm sure there are better prices out there but now I can keep all the recordings on my 2TB Sky Q box (It's 86% full........yes i know!).
    So here's the deal:
    Signature                 £24.50
Ultimate                   £10.99 (No ads on Netflix)
    Sports + HD            £11  + £0
    Cinema                    £13
    HD                           £4
    Multiroom                £10
B/B                          £24  (reduced speed to Full Fibre 100 as Superfast not needed)

    Totalling  £97.49

This is a 24 month contract so no haggling for a good while.............
They tried to add £20 Admin fee but removed it as I'm such a longstanding customer (29 years).

All prices valid from April so no increase until April 2026.
Had to really haggle about the broadband and even express an interest in switching (received an email from Vodafone so we'll see if i have any problems!)

    Hi folks,
Update on the saga of re-contracting.
Usually I never have any problems but his time I do. As I said, I re-contracted on 6.2.25 with a deal I could live with. I was asked to wait 48-72 hours before the changes would show on my future bills but that hasn't been the case!
My future bills now show the new broadband contract and rate but the TV bill only shows the Netflix add-on!

I've contacted Sky via Chat a couple of times and got nowhere. The last person escalated the problem to the "Expert Team" 2 days ago when I received the cardboard packaging to return my Sky bits and bobs. This morning I received a text message reminding me that my Sky TV will be cancelled on Sunday and to contact them if I want to stay.
Needless to say, I "chatted" with them again and they said there was "some kind of error" and to wait for the experts to sort it out.
Me being me, I obviously didn't wait and gave them a call but still got absolutely nowhere!
I'm not sure how things are going to go over the weekend, but if I lose my recordings I'll be severely annoyed!
This should possibly now be in another discussion thread but I'm staying here for consistency!!!
Any direct phone numbers to the "Expert Team" would be appreciated :)))

Was offered £108 yesterday. Cancelled for my parents.
No email offers or on the app.
Phoned today they got it for £97.49.  Which seems okay.

I called up today to re-contract. Currently paying £44.50 per month, but quoted an increase to £68.49.

    Sky Signature - £26.50
    Netflix Premium - £13.99
    Sky Kids - £5
    Sky Cinema - £9
    Multiscreen - £7.50
    Ultra HD - £1

I've put through a cancellation, let's see if they come back with anything better.

Yes if you've got Sky+ or Sky Q. No for anything else.
  • I was being charged £110.50 for the following package:

    Sky Signature
    Sky HD
    Multiscreen
    Sky Sports HD
Sky Sports Complete including Sky Sports+
    Sky Kids
    Ultimate TV Add on
    Netflix Standard

Contract ended last month so I was pretty slow getting in touch to try and renegotiate but when I did the best offer they could come up with was £88 a month for a customer of 13 years. The CSA seemed completely unbothered about trying to retain my custom so I said no and just to go ahead and cancel. No subsequent communication from Sky since to try and keep me other than to say it's not too late for me to change my mind!
    :D

I found them equally unwilling to budge on broadband when it came to sorting out a new contract for that. I was told my deal for ~ 60 mbps would go up to £40 a month (this was back in 2023). I said I was being offered 500 mbps from Hyperoptic for £20. They offered me the same speed I had with Sky previously for £35
:| Again, CSA very unmoved about trying to keep me.

I had found Sky pretty good to negotiate with but loyalty gets you nothing these days it would seem.
