  • Just ring instead, preferably Saturday afternoon when they are quiet, and ssy you want to cancel, they will put you through to retentions, say you want to cancel and see what they offer, then haggle from there explaining you will only accept any offer if the admin fee is waived.
  • I have left sky now but had a text to contact them on 0333 759 4765 for a deal to return. The call cost on this number is 7p a minute and knowing them they will keep me on the phone for quite a while racking up the cost. Does anyone have an alternative cheaper contact number for this department?

Hi, slightly embarrasing but hoping for some advise.
I have a Sky+ HD box and a 2nd multi room box. Have been with Sky for 15 years+.
My husband asked me to check out prices for Sky Q and I was being quoted via my deals on Sky Interactive £224 for the box plus 2 mini's + installation . After a bit of research and activating Sky VIP 24 hrs later it's dropped to £129!!!
Here's the embarrasing bit I've just noticed we're paying £80.50 a month for goodness knows how many years for:
    Sky Multi screen £13
    Sky HD. £13
    Variety. £35.50
    Sky Cinema. £19.00

I had no idea we were paying so much and had been doing for years and that these packages were Legacy packages with the Variety presumably being replaced by the Entertainment.
We really want Sky Q and don't want to leave Sky however I really want to negotiate and change the packages and am worried if I try the cancellation route I might end up losing the diamond VIP status which would make sky q more expensive.
Also I'm presuming after cancellation the my deals section wouldn't show the Entertainment pack for £15 as I'm actually on the Variety pack.
Any advise on how to handle this would be much appreciated.

0333 numbers are charged the same as any normal landline number and should come off your allowance.

As ever, check out the last 2 or 3 pages which will show just how much you're paying over what you should and then contact them (any method). To get a decent deal you WILL need to put in a cancellation request. The only way you'll lose your VIP 'status' (it's really not worth much) is if you let your cancellation go through.

You'll save a lot of money regardless of the deal you eventually take.

Thanks for the info I did already read the last 10 pages before posting so have an idea of what I should be aiming towards.
The VIP is only important as having it instantly knocked £125 off what they were trying to charge me on the Interactive My Deals to get Sky Q, after that I can imagine it'll be worthless.
Am usually quite a savvy negotiator I always renegotiate my mob contracts and BT internet yearly am not sure why I dropped the ball with Sky so badly.
I gather Sky Q will work with BT infinity?

Just spent the best part of an hour on the phone to retention's and the best they can offer is £22 for entertainment, £1 box sets, £1 HD plus £13 if we wanted to keep our multiscreen (which we don`t as we hardly ever use it). Mentioned that others had been offered entertainment for £15 and he said I had that offer for the last 12 months so it was not available again! I know that`s not the case. I only want entertainment, HD and box sets. So have given notice and I will now wait and see ...
  • I've been following this thread, and gave my notice to cancel after getting a deal that was only a few pounds less per month. I've always been able to negotiate a fair price but refuse to pay anywhere near what they advertise retail price at.

I called and live chat'd a couple of times during my notice period to see if any better offers were available and was told no, the note on my account is the best offer - it struck me that no one wanted to offer help look at what's best available plan to me.

I have now left and at not time have I had any calls or emails of offers, even though my preferences say it's ok to do so. Those looking for a call back for better offers, I wouldn't hold your breath. It's just too expensive for what it really is in this household, I'm changing my habits to how I watch tv and saving my monthly sky bill per month. Not missed Sky box for one minute so far. No entertainment, box sets, kids, Sports or Cinema or HD pack charges on my bill this year.

Since my conversation with retentions an hour or so ago, I have an offer showing on my account for £17 entertainment and £1 for HD and boxsets.£5 a month cheaper than the guy offered me on the phone.

That statement about having the £15 last year and so can't have it this year is total rubbish, I had entertaiment at £13 last year and had no problem getting the £15 this time.
