this is wrong! General concensus is you cancel, let the TV switch off, then call or chat to them and generally you'll get 75% after a bit of haggling - you may also get lucky and get anythign from £25 - £100 cash on top if you ask.

This is the thread you should be reading:

Broadly,I agree with you shaggy -but the post I quoted ,specifically said " coming back as a brand new customer" NOT a retention deal after switch off..This would mean a new account presumably.
Also, haven't heard of anyone getting 75% off lately and bill credits are much harder to get than they were in previous years.:)

Hands up, I've never haggled with Sky before. Been with them four years and now paying £71 for Sky Boxset (no sport or cinema), landline and broadband.

Just spoken to them and they have offered:

    * downgrading to the Original Bundle (I'm happy with this if it cuts costs considerably but don't want to lose it unnecessarily)
    * a 10% discount off the TV package
    * £5 off Broadband
    * downgrading the Evenings and Weekends Talk package off my bundle so we're just on the Line Rental and Pay as you Talk (fine with this as we rarely make calls on it)

The quote is £43.79 a month for an 18 month contract.

It's obviously less than we're currently paying but for a slimmed down package. Worth taking it or trying to cancel and see if they offer a better deal?

Also, if I cancel, can I backtrack on this at any point (if they don't offer us a deal?). Don't want to end up losing Sky altogether if I'm honest.

    Thanks.

Just phoned Sky to ask when my 50% off TV deal expires. She told me that my deal had been incorrectly taken off. She is going to give me a call back later this afternoon, when they have sorted out the fiasco.

I am going to raise a complaint when she calls back and ask for compensation or a GOGW.

Did you have the Sports pack?? Because the change of description caused all sorts of billing problems a couple of months ago.

Historically, you will get a better deal if you wait until it goes black.

You can call up at any time before the cut off and say you have changed your mind.

Its only TV and if you are not serious and let the cancellation go through then you wont get the better come back deals.

Be aware that Sky fibre BB has a limit of 25GB a month.
Sky deals, they seem to vary depending on which TV package you have.
We have been paying £22.40 for unlimited BB, line rental and TV+.
This deal ends soon so I went on line to offers and there is a deal for fibre BB but they wanted £99 one off payment!
I rang up and now we are going to get Fibre unlimited BB, line rental and TV+ for £28.60 with a one off payment of £15. This is an 18month contract.
    Fairly happy with that.
  • So after having a few chats with Sky online chat team the best they could do for me was 40% of my Boxset package (previously was on 50% off) and £22.80 credit (i.e one month free).

I declined as i mentioned Sky should at least match my previous package but they are playing hardball so i officially went into the black at midnight (today).

how is 'comeback to sky offer' given as i cannot no longer login to my sky tv section and instead gives me a phone number. as this is the first time i have gone into the Black with sky (am holding my nerves) i have no idea how long to wait and how they contact me with the offers.

I hope its soon before the kids and OH drive me crazy

Got a call from outbound retentions. Offered £11.25 a month for the original package on a 12 month contract. I accepted.

That's an atrocious offer to be honest, you should aim for at least 40% (preferably 50%) on the TV package. Even new customers currently get 22% off Boxsets. BTW if you do downgrade, not only do you lose Boxsets, you also lose quite a few HD channels.

Have a look at BT, Virgin etc and make a list of comparable packages before you get back in contact. You can of course stop the cancellation going through but you'll probably end up with the 10% again as any other offers would turn out to be 'point of sale offers and no longer applicable'.

How long were you "switched off" for ? General consensus is that you have to leave for 12 months to get a new customer deal:(

I was only switched off for a couple of months so i guess i would be classed as a returning customer rather than a new customer, but yeah when i do it this way i tend to get the best deals 😁
