I had 200mb broadband for £20pm last year. To get the deal there they threw in basic phone with free line rental (I don't need the phone -it's not plugged in).

Renewal is up but the best they can offer is £43 at the moment! Cancelled two weeks ago - no calls since. (virgin landline redirects to my mobile so it hasn't been missed...)

I feel slightly better knowing I am not the only one they are ignoring.
I just don't understand why they offered me something and now say they can't sacntion it.
Plus the only call they have 'no record of' is that call from outbound !
I am looking at the other providers but really struggling to make my mind up.
  • I pay the annual line rental for the phone.

My package is otherwise simple. 2 TiVos (used by SO), 'Player' TV (basic channels), Vivid Gamer 200, talk weekends. Was paying £52/month. Now paying £44/month with Vivid gamer 300.

Had considered other providers but the need to have a line installed adds complication. And I'm reluctant to leave the consistent high quality connection from Virgin's broadband. Except where I have a router with a slower cable connection to the modem my intranet wireless speeds are usually 500-800Mbps and internet speed tests usually clock in at 150-200Mbps down and 15-21Mbps up.
  • Been with them for 10years+ but about to say goodbye.

Argued last £2.99 increase and had it deferred for 6 months, told price would stay the same. Then out of blue £15 increase on bill... queried this and was told one of my loyalty discounts had ended.

So I went from £26.99 per month (100Mbps broadband and phone) to around £42.

Called and was first offered £40 best they could so then half way through cancellation process they came back with £30. Declined and went through with cancellation.

No calls so rang back last week to see if they could beat the Vodafone offer I had and was told best they could do was £47! Mentioned previous £30 offer and no record of this on my file.

Apparently what I need to do is place order with Vodafone... and then... when Vodafone have contacted VM regarding port, outbound team will call and offer me 'a fantastic deal'.

So, ordered with, and will be staying with Vodafone. What a crazy way to run your retentions business!
  • Good evening all,

Currently on a 12-month broadband only deal paying £30/month for 150mb. Was £27/month for first 6 months.

Contract is ending next month and I put in 30-day cancellation notice last week.

Got a call from outbound retentions today saying they don't do 150mb anymore, just 100 or 200. Was offered 100mb for £31/month, with £93 credit effectively giving first 3 months free. Averages out to £23/month.

Should I push for lower or extras (such as phone line)?

    FG

    Update:

Got another call from retentions and was offered same deal. After a bit of haggling, managed to get upgraded to 200mb (previous offer was downgrade to 100mb) and free superhub3 for the same price i.e £31/month for 12 months, with first 3 months free.

    Pretty happy with that :)

  • Gave my notice last month - cut off is Nov 22nd. Still had no call from retentions!

Had Full House and Sports with 100 Broadband. Went from £56.50 to £91.50.

I'd like to stay but not at that price so hope they call! Does anyone know what number they ring from?

    Thanks.

    Gave my notice 25th October.

100MB Broadband only @ £23 per month from last years Black Friday deal.

Originally offered 50MB @ £28 per month, with one month free, as no room for negotiation on 100MB.

Called back last week and told as I use an average of 20GB per day, the best they can do is 100MB @ £34 per month.

Have had no contact at all from outbounds. Ordered BT Infinity at an average cost of £15 per month and last day to cancel that penalty free was today.

I suspect that is what I'll have to do with Sky when I call after we've completed our move. I'm intending to tell them outright that I won't accept any deal after I've placed an order with someone else as I've had enough of contacting them multiple times to try get a decent deal. They either offer me an acceptable offer there and then or I'm off.
  • Just phoned VirginMedia and downgraded from
    200MB Broadband
    Full House
    Talk More Anytime
£24 month (Line Rental Paid in advance)

    to

    100MB
    Full House
    Talk More Anytime
    £39

Had to pay for Line Rental in advance which cost me £146 as oppose to £196 due to getting £50 credit. Also got V6 box.

Not as good as my previous deal and I'm sure I could of got a better deal from outbound, but since I like VirginMedia's broadband decided to go with this offer.
  • Currently:
    50mb broadband
    Weekend calls
    Player TV
    £17.45 a month + £50 credit on account.

Contract ends at beginning of January and will rise to £45 a month.

Just called them and was offered same package for £33.45 a month
I don't need the TV as doesn't get used.

From experience is it better to join another provider first or to just cancel with virgin and wait for them to call?
  • I got call from retentions today, 70mb broadband only, got offered 27 a month with 2 moths free, so I average 22.50 a month, was paying 19 per month until now. Any good?
