Given VM themselves for new customers are offering it for £23, EE & Voda Both £26, PN £29 and Sky £30 (not even including any rewards or cashback details) I'd want it close or simply use the OTS system and switch.

No doubt they'll come back once a switch is started but in my experience that just causes issues trying to stop the switch and then VM stopping the new offer and not even communicating that to you.

Your current 'offer' is poor BTW so don't fall for any 'thank you for your loyalty' guff.

My contract is coming to an end on 14 August, currently £28.50/month for M125 Broadband. I was gearing up to call them when I received and e-mail saying they would extend my discount until August 2027 so I'll continue to pay £28.50 for another year.

I suppose the advantage is that I will be out of contract so I could shop around later if needs be, but it seems a reasonable deal to me, unless broadband prices are falling?

It's a bit on the high side. Even without doing the "cancellation trick", I got M250 plus landline with anytime calls for £20 last March. It was a new 24 month contract, with a £4 increase in April 2027, but was a little less than I had been paying for the same service. I got that by phoning them on 150, just before I'd even entered the "penalty free" period of my contract. Had to decline their first offer and ask about if I could give advance notice of leaving before the 30 day window, to be then offered the £20 deal. All done with one phone call and took effect immediately as it was cheaper than my current contract. 😊

Can I check if you had/required an O2 unlimited data sim to get the pricing on this deal?

so got a text from Virgin after i started a one touch switch ….

Got offered £29 for 1 gbps. …asked about a O2 sim….£6 pounds per month and that reduces BB down to £26 a month

Just rang the magic number ending ..6970 number and spoke to a very pleasant scottish female. Got 250mb BB, Mega TV, netflix standard at £32/month for a 24month contract. Finally dropped the landline which we never use, in the past this seemed to make the deal dearer - but now it's time to ditch it for a better deal. She also started the deal straight away from tomorrow.

Just got 500mb for £20 a month on the 6970 number having done the cancellation dance. £24 year after, £28 year after that (Each April).

No, but we already have o2 volt sim contracts from previous years VM contracts.

Hi, My current contract coming to end on 13th Aug 2026. Today, spent almost 3 hrs on online chat and was not getting any better deals. Ended chat and Just rang Retentions team on that 6970 number. Spoke to a nice lad. Got my BB from £45 to £22 per month with increased speed from 125 to 500. Thanks for the phone number and information from this forum.
