Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

It'll be with immediate effect, the £199 figure is just your out of minimum term price. there will be an April price rise next year though and of course I wouldn't expect TNT to still be free.

I know there will be an increase every April, but the price does include TNT Sports as an add on in the contract. So I’m happy that I’ve accepted and not had to do the usual haggling over the phone.

Not a success sadly, my 500Mbps plus landline plus a Stream box was going up to £37 odd this month, since I'm out of minimum term in June and Sky's latest BB offers run out tonight, I got on a chat with VM and they offered me £41 :(
Now moved back to Sky for 900Mbps @ £27 which is £4 less than the MSE deal but without the £100 voucher, so swings and roundabouts.

Or perhaps it was, just got a call from VM (Newcastle maybe) and re-signed back up for 500Mbps at £26 (broadband and line only as we don't need the Stream box) with the next rise in April of next year so I'll be able to catch it before the 2028 rise. Slower speed but it's more than we need and no need to change anything now. Just got to cancel the Sky order.

My 18 months minimum term is up early June. This week I received an email stating they'll keep my existing discounts in place for the next 12 months without starting a new contract, just annual increases will apply.
Never known this to happen in the past. Is this the competition having an effect on how VM see existing customers??

That's a new one. Effectively gives you another year to shop around. Assuming of course, that your existing deal is quite good!

I pay £23.65 for broadband and phone. Looking at the retention offers others are receiving it's not too bad - especially without a new minimum term.

I have seen the occasional poster having the same deal they're on offered on a rolling monthly deal previously. My deal was for £26 per month for 500Mbps and weekend chatter calls although it's a 24 month deal.

I'm on 125Mb and weekend chatter. Never had an issue with speed, so wouldn't benefit from anything faster.
I'm switching from Lebara to Smarty in just over a week, and as there's a pretty new 3 transmitter about 150 metres from me, I'm looking to test their 5G speeds. If need be, I'd happily buy a 5G router and use Smarty unlimited for home broadband.
Having said that, happy to continue with VM on my existing price without contract.

Or not.
I'd received the pre-contract email and one asking for both router (why?) and Stream box back straight away on the 10th. It had all gone quiet with no change to my contract so I opened up a chat today. (Edit: no contact whatsoever from VM about cancelling my order obviously, no call, no email, not even a text asking me to call)
The first foreign agent had got as far as confirming security and was going to check my account when the broadband started to reboot for 20 minutes continuously… Never had an issue before so unfortunate timing for sure.
The second foreign agent confirmed that I'd been offered £26 just for BB and talk with the unused Stream TV removed. Sadly they couldn't do it themselves so they transferred me to the correct department who 100% would be able to give me the same deal. Yeah, right.
The third agent (UK based I think) told me I could pay just £33 instead for Flex and 500Mbps BB and that "This package is well suited to your current usage" which was odd as I'd told her that I don't use the Stream box (and it hasn't been turned on for most of the last 18 months) as we have Sky Q for the wife, she didn't bother asking what speed might be most suitable for the BB either. Apparently, if they removed the Flex box then there would be no discounts available at all.
I went straight back on Sky and ordered their 500Mb service for £25 (again).
