    Hi everyone!

First post here after reading all the success stories of haggling and feeling prepared for the fight with VM!
We were out of contract and monthly fee went up to £82 😭
    maxit tv
    M250
    weekend chatter

Phoned customer service and after some laughable offers, asked to terminate our service.

A few days later got calls from the retention team:

    Offers:
    £29
    MixIt TV
    M250
    Weekend chatter

    £45
    MegaTV
    M500
    weekend chatter

    £33
    MegaTV
    M350
    weekend chatter

I accepted the £33 offer. With not too much haggling.

    Thanks for reading! Good luck!
Well done, gives me hope 😁

I tried again today. May have to cancel, but contract ends on 30th June. The advisor today said to wait until 31st may to try again. I will try then and cancel if I need to.

Update on my position. Was on Ultimate Volt package - orig £62 for VM + o2 sim card separate.
With April RPI increase - up to £67.50. Contract due to end mid-June. Supposedly going up to £136 but losing TNT.
Various attempts to secure a new deal in the last couple of weeks by live chat, Whatsapp, or calling - not much - best I achieved was an offer of around £87 just for VM - phoned and gave notice on Monday - offered £76 - I said no and I would look around for deals with Sky/BT or whoever. Rep asked if I wanted to accept the £76 offer? I said no. And then confirmed - so no changes to be made today - I said correct. And hung up thinking that my disconnection request was done and dusted. Waiting for a call from outbound retentions - nothing on my preferred number (mobile) - but then wife gets a call from VM on the landline - says I'm not available - which I wasn't - that was Tues (so day after my disconnection notice) - decided to try one of the numbers quoted on here (0203....) and called and said I think I missed a call from you on Tuesday - very friendly - had a look - couldn't load my account - asked a manager - nothing - then it turns out I wasn't on the "disconnection list" - seems like my intention to have "no changes" was misinterpreted and my initial request to cancel was ignored!! The guy told me to cancel again and that I should be back in his system and he'd look out for me and call me back - so did the cancellation again - this time received text/email with details and how to return my equip and how I would be paying £34 for the 4 days over my contract (given the 30 days notice was 4 days ago!!) - and then an hour later - matey phoned me back - 5 mins later offered me same package incl TNT as add on - for £68. I accepted. Maybe could have done a little better - but new customer price is only £60 I think - albeit with £200 bill credit or 43 inch TV. But happy to have it done and dusted. Hope that helps people.
  • Can someone summarize the above post lol

Next week when you are in your 30 day window, put a cancellation in, citing too expensive.  In the meantime make sure in your account settings, marketing preferences are set so they can call you.  Do not accept their first offers, unless you are entirely happy, proceed with the cancellation and the likelihood is you will receive a call back from a different team who have the far cheaper offers that people often quote on here.  You can get everything sports, movies, tnt, Netflix etc for around the £55-60.  When they call just ask oh by the way how much is it to have Netflix included and often the price to include it will be cheaper than what they offer on your current package, bizarre as that seems.  You can always cancel the cancellation during that 30 day period should you get cold feet.

TBF to VM you did agree to 'no changes today' so it's not really a misinterpretations on their part. They've actually done well by you there.

Trying to sort my parents broadband. They are out of contract so I’ve started my cancel > wait for call back ritual that always works. But I think I’ve made an error, when I cancelled they asked if I want to keep the telephone number to which I said yes. So I’ve had an email saying the package has changed (broadband removed) and I’m thinking now this means I haven’t properly cancelled and won’t get a call back? The service (phone only) will continue so not technically cancelled?

Any thoughts on this guys? Should I call again to cancel the whole thing?

Call them back and cancel again. I had similar when I gave my notice and said I wanted to transfer the number to a new provider. I got the same email and when I called them back, they confirmed it was only the broadband removed. I confirmed the cancellation (they said my new provider would request to retain the number) and got the call from retentions a day or so later. Got the usual result of the package I wanted at a better price than just renewing.
