Received call back from their retentions team who offered a further £1 discount 😂
  • I was on £62 a month for 500mb BB, MixItTV & Talk Weekends phone

Contract was ending and the price was going up loads, so I called them. I rarely watch the TV package since we got a couple of streaming packages - and I don't EVER use the phone. So I asked to just have BB - expecting this to be considerably cheaper than £62 for the bundle of 3 services -  but he was adamant that buying products in isolation was much more expensive than the bundles, as they had no "discount" on just BB

After a lengthy conversation about how utterly ridiculous that was, I said I was happy to cancel and get my BB from CityFibre. At which point he suddenly said I could retain my current package at £52!!

I had lost the will to live by that point, and just accepted it, as it was going to be £120 a year less than what I paid this year, for the same services (despite me not wanting or needing TV or phone)

    This was last month

It later dawned on me that they were about to execute their "annual price increase" of RPI + 3.9% - which we now know equates to 8.8% so my £52 is going up to nearly £57. Still cheaper than what I was on but leaves me wondering

    1) how is it ethical to force your customers to take services they neither want nor need?

    2) where do they get off with the price gouging annual increase?

Just had the letter about my mid contract price increase and it seems VM are only applying the increase to the discounted monthly price.
Still an underhand contract with an unknown (at the time of taking it out) annual increase in it IMO, but they're all doing it.

  • After cancelling recently I had 5 or 6 retention calls over a couple of days, and spoke to them to try and get the best price possible.

    Managed to get:
    500mb internet
    Talk anytime
    Biggest tv package available
    Sky cinema
    Kids channels
    Sky sports UHD
    TNT sports UHD
    Netflix standard with ads
    1 x multiroom

All for £62pm 18 month contract, no price rises April 24.

Much better than I was hoping for!
  • I’m still in contract till next March tried to reduce bill no chance if I pulled out they wanted £622 to cancel
  • Put my cancellation in on the 20th.  Had a call from retentions today and been offered:

    Broadband:
    • Gig1

    Phone:
    • Anytime Chatter

    TV:
    • Mega Volt package (all channels)
    • Sky Cinema & Sports HD
    • Netflix Standard
    • 1 × multiroom

    Price:
    • £60 per month, 18 month contract
    • £65 install fee waived

They wouldn't agree to adding TNT or UHD at a discounted rate.

I've asked them to call back later to discuss further, but wanted to ask if the above seems a good deal?  Have been a longstanding customer for around 10 years+
  • I complained about the upcoming April 1st price rises until eventually I got put through to someone that said they were a floor manager. The added a rolling credit to counteract the price increase until the end of my contract.

Suspiciously low. I would check everything before your cooling off period is over.

I think you could go even lower. I was able to get it for £55, and that probably wasn't the lowest possible. Just make sure you see everything in writing.
  • 50mb
    Mixit tv
    phone I don't use

    was at £37

    Got offered :
    250mb
    Megatv
    Sky cinema
£33 for 6 months and then up to £43

Said no and cancelled. Hope for a call to discuss more.

I think I'd have agreed around the £37-38 mark for the duration of the contract but with the increases and the unnecessarily fast internet (I live alone) I don't feel I'm getting value for money.
