Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

I signed up with Community fibre very late last night (£27/month for 1gig) on a 12 months contract and they're coming tomorrow morning at 9am to install. Virgin media wanted £40/month for 1gig broadband.
I went through Topcashback broadband compare. So after £120 Amazon voucher and £66 cashback, my effective cost would be just under £13/month for 1gig FTTP broadband. I don't see Virgin media doing too well, especially where people have other options to get high speed broadband. On top of that when it comes to renewal with Community fibre, it's only £2 more out of contract so no panic of potentially paying ridiculous out of contract Virgin media prices.

So if you took on a 125M connection at £26/mo, and normal price outside of contract is £34/mo, you'd end up paying £30/mo - A 15.4% rise assuming RPI is 8%.
From the T&Cs(2) The annual price adjustment will apply to the monthly
So (using their example) if you were paying £40/mo, you'd pay another £3.56 after the price increase. But if you look closely at your bill, you may well find an assortment of discounts & credits applied to bring the actual cost down. I get a £17 promotional discount plus a further £6 credit - I doubt these will be taken in to account when the price rise is announced come April. They certainly were not when prices went up by 13.8% in April of this year. I was going to be hit by a ~21% increase. Virgin Media lost the last remaining shred of trust that day.
subscription price you are paying at that time and also (if applicable)
to the monthly subscription price payable after subsequent expiry of
any applicable offer or discount. For example (just for illustrative
purposes), if you joined in August 2023 on an offer price where the
monthly subscription charge is £40 a month for the first 18 months,
then standard pricing from month 19 (currently £50 a month), using
RPI rates that are illustrative only:
Year 1: In April 2024 you would see your offer price increase to
£43.56 a month (if RPI announced in the preceding February was 5%,
plus the 3.9%) i.e. £40 x 1.089 = £43.56. Your standard monthly price
payable from month 19 would increase also (£50 x 1.089= £54.45),
although you would not pay this amount until February 2025, 18
months from the date that you entered your contract; and
Year 2: In April 2025 (provided you have not re-contracted onto
another price) you would be paying the standard monthly price and
you would see your monthly subscription charge increase from
£54.45 to £56.57 a month (if RPI announced in the preceding
February was minus 1.5%, meaning we only applied the 3.9%
increase) i.e. £54.45 x 1.039 = £56.57355;
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

First job today is digging out aerial cable and making sure my freeview service works. After that, it's on to VM.0 -
Has anybody on the, what used to be the ultimate oomph package had much success with renewing? Or renegotiating a new contract? If so, what was the outcome?0

Hi Guys
Deal has just come to and end and phoned up to strip back the package. Offered mixit tv, 350mb and phone at £72pcm which I know is ridiculous.
Going to phone to cancel tonight but wondered if anyone had a ballpark figure for what they would EXPECT to pay for this.
Appreciate any help in advance.
Thanks

ThanksI cancelled on Saturday - Whatsapp is a LOT more convenient than calling, by the way.
I've not yet decided between the two below, yeah VM cheaper but I do fancy the additional broadband speed and just a change of going with Sky. These deal are via topcashback - also both are bigger TV bundles than Mixit0 -

I could sign the wife up as a new customer but it seems so long and I've confidently haggled them down before so just want to get it sorted in my name if possible.0 -
