Called VM a second time yesterday, again connected to a non-UK call centre, and this time no automated message on the line giving an automatical discount.
Mentioned multiple offers to the agent, including the current one via MsE for new customers (just under £20 for 200+mb speed plus phone line), the Shell one from MSE, and also a NowTV one (I have a subscription).
Sadly, have again not as much luck as others here as the only options I was given:
1) offset £7 increase to make it just a £1.40 increase until end of contract (i.e. March 2024), or
2) £30 for 200+mb speed instead of usual £50+.
Currently pay £23 for 100+mb and was given a £7 increase.
What do people think about the first option?
I tried to argue that I think it's being unfair existing customers subsidising new customer offers, that I have been a loyal customer, that other providers offer cheaper contracts. The agent was sympathetic but started this is all that is possible.
I am expecting a call from them on Monday afternoon so just wondering if it's worth going through the cancellation in the hope another call comes through later with a better offer?

I am expecting a call from them on Monday afternoon so just wondering if it's worth going through the cancellation in the hope another call comes through later with a better offer?Me, I would take option one and move on, look towards March next year. I don’t think it’s a bad offer—you would still be paying less than a new customer. £26.50 for M125 is lowest price I keep seeing for new signups. Me, I’m reluctant to leave VM (my threat of cancellation is a bluff) since I prefer (and sort of need, for specific reasons) their product.I avoided any nonsense in them offering increased speed for less by telling them I’d be perfectly happy downgrading to the M50 tier, since it would more than meet my needs. And, whilst I have had the £7 increase cancelled (I’ll wait until after the event, in case not), I have been overpaying for years. Could be said I’ve paid for my increase already, many times over.I had their social tariffs in the back of my mind. 15mb for £12.50 / 54mb for £20, for those on universal credit. Kind of says to me, there’s a floor to what they will offer me. So, M125, for £23, I found it hard to say no, especially when the alternative was to stay out of contract and pay £53 come Mayor actually cancel and suffer the consequences of a non-fibre provider.

I cancelled two weeks ago and not heard a thing even though my marketing is on personally not that bothered sneaking a mandatory increase from next year has well and truly put me off I have a 4g router set up and ready to go luckily have 5G here so speeds match virgin.
Worst case scenario is you move to another supplier you can always come back to virgin as a new customer in the future.

Rang up today to complain about the new increase. Got all this, 125BB TV and weekend calls for £20 a month. But I think it will go up to £29 in May.

So will have to ring again today... What a terrible CS 🙄😮💨0 -
You have to work really hard if you want to remain a VM customer, no one ever rings you back and if you ring them you have to start all over again.
