Hi,
Do Virgin notify you of contract ending (and associated discounts) at the "month to go mark"? I vaguely remember getting letters in the past but don't ever seem to have got emails? This time, no letters or emails - and contract ends in less than 27 days now.....do I need to wait to hear from them before trying to cancel/negotiate new contract?
thanks

What's the difference between the "retentions team" (the one you get through to on phoning 150 and then pressing all the options) and the "cancellation team" who they put you through to when you don't accept their offer? Reading this thread, I'm assuming that it's only the "cancellation team" who can offer the lower deals.0

After I wrote the previous comment, I spoke to the "cancellations" team - but have not been offered a price I'm happy with. I did post on another MSE thread about "Haggle with Virgin" - tried to quote from there to here - but not luck - so here's a quick summary:
My current package: 200 MB ***** MAxit TV with Skysports (non HD) ***** Anytime Telephone Calls ******* Tivo Box
Currently paying £78/month - contract ending soon - due to increase to £116 (and £121 from Sept, with the "delayed" price rise from April - for which they gave me a £5 credit for six months)
Went through to retentions - said I wanted to leave - he offered £109. Then £105 and finally £101. I turned down all of these. Said I would look elsewhere and I'd like to give notice of my intention to cancel with Virgin.
He put me through to Cancellations - who immediately offered to find me a better deal - and he came up with £91. After a bit of a discussion and being put on hold to "chat to a manager" - came back with an extra £7/month discount - so £84. I still said no - and was then offered a final offer of £81. And that's how it ended - no agreement - I said BT did a similar package for £71 with £100 giftcard welcome gift - as usual, I was told it was not a like for like comparison - etc.
Couple of questions:
On the other thread, it was indicated that people on a similar package to me were paying around £60 per month (hence the reason why I didn't take any of the above) - would people on this thread concur with this?
Secondly, after quite a lengthy chat/negotiation - is that it for me - or am I still likely to be called back again within the next few days with an even better take it or leave it final offer?
Thanks

Received an email advising I can cancel as they're removing Usenet access, so have promptly done just that.
Got shafted back in December and put back on a new 18 month contract just to revert to my current deal (they ballsed up an upgrade) so at least I'm hopefully back in charge of any potential deal now.0 -

I'm just in the haggle process, currently on 100MB, Phone & TV (freeview channels), I don't need the TV or Phone, but the original Player bundle was cheap. Had it at £33.50 - £37 for the last 2 months, up to £58 next week.
Online chat for some reason tried to sell me Mix TV, phone & 100Mb for £48. Said no & am in long queue for Customer relations for the next stage.
But I digress. How long is it before VM forget you & you can reapply as a new customer? I have other options so prepared to walk & give them a try. Openreach have put all the FTTP stuff in the manholes & Three are sticking up a huge 5G mast. So prepared to try 4/5G & possibly go back to VM in a few months.
Also, what would be the best price to accept for 100MB only? I'll port the phone number to a VOIP provider.0 -
For those on broadband only, no extras, I'm on the M200 package for £20 a month. This was through retention deals, and it was no hassle at all to get it. Just in case someone out there is looking at this currently.1

Hi all, I'm in a slightly tricky situation. We now need an additional Virgin Media box, and have heard about the Oomph deal which includes this. New customers and retentions are able to offer this for £79 per month. I am currently on Mix TV, Sky Sports and Cinema, M100 Broadband and Asian Mela (Asian TV channels) for £80 per month. I was offered the Oomph with Asian Mela for £111 today by live chat. Clearly I would like to reduce this as much as possible, but I suspect the best deals are for people wanting to cancel? However, my contract runs out in February 2022. Do I simply have to either accept their deal or wait? I assume I can't cancel before February 2022, or 'threaten' to cancel and they may impose early termination charges anyway? Anyone been in a similar situation or generally have thoughts on this please? Thanks!0
