I have been with giffgaff and i always found the data to be so slow that its unuseable. Plus going into almost any large shop or any bar and the signal drops right off. I'd avoid.

When I'm at home my phone connects to the wifi so it's only when I'm out that I need data.

If I do go with GiffGaff (or other) and one day I do need a new phone is it better to pay for a handset up front and continue with the sim only deal?
Or enter into a new contract to get a handset?

Have ready many bad reports on Giffgaff but not sure what to believe. Their Sim only deals seem very attractive. Any advice? Thanks

I've been with GG since September 2013 ... I've not had any real issues.

They are a MVNO on the O2 network. As such they only get the bandwidth they pay for, so data speeds might not be as good as O2 customers get depending on where you are and how busy the network is.

All customer interaction is online - you cannot phone them.

been with them over 2l years now, no problems, OH also with them no issues for her either recommended.

As there is no contract you may as well try them, not much to lose.
