Anyone with Giffgaff?

Seems ok offer, shame the network is really poor and their data speeds abysmal, worse than Three.0
-
Gave the 4G GiffGaff a month and never got speeds higher than about 0.3mb anyway. Dumped it for 12 months on three.co.uk, £11 for 600 mins, 1gb internet and unlimited texts. Plus free use abroad.
I like the GiffGaff approach but they don't have enough capacity in the O2 network to make it work.0

Giffgaff have introduced a web control panel for their customers to block access to high rate premium numbers and international calls, as well as for all outgoing or incoming calls... very useful feature to have!

            Good service.
Any other network offering this service?0

            Virtually them all
Mine has Outgoing international calls (except to home country) activated.
If it it gets stolen (here or abroad) can't be used to make fraudulent international calls to 3rd countries.
International texts always work are they a routed via the UK and I use a freephone number for international calls.ballyblack wrote: »Good service.

I've been looking at the giffgaff tariffs and their prices are amazing, but I've heard some not-so-good things about their 4G network. I know that they use O2, which apparently has mediocre coverage in any case, but I've also heard that giffgaff customers get even slower speeds than O2 customers. Is this the case?
I've been with Orange/EE for years and have never had any problems with coverage - but I've currently only got a 3G phone. If I upgrade to 4G should I stick with EE or perhaps give giffgaff a try?0

Personally I've found GiffGaff better than I'd found EE overall (though to be fair it's almost 3 years since I was on EE). No comparison of O2 at all.
I have 4G and it works well for me
giffgaff is pretty cheap and the goody bags are flexible, I'd recommend giving a SIM a go for one month on a low package and then switching if it works well for you
The only thing giffgaff doesn't do itemised billing and no call centers (i prefer sending a message anyway)Yes Your Dukeiness 0 0

Giffgaff 4G is pretty poor and its performance is worse than O2 direct customers get. This is because Giffgaff has limited 3G/4G national bandwidth that is heavily utilised during the daytime resulting in poor data speed/reliability. Also Giffgaff has a lower mast congestion priority meaning giffgaff users may be forced to use a more distant mast or lower connection type i.e. 3G or 2G for data even in a 4G area.
O2 currently claims around 55%+ population coverage for 4G compared to EE at around 90%+. O2 has a small amount of 4G and 3G spectrum compared to EE which operates at 800Mhz,1800Mhz and 2.6GHz. O2 is largely 800MHz with some 1800MHz in cities.
The only thing worse than Giffgaff 4G is its 3G which you may spend more time on !
