Hello, not long back from the hospital.
Mum is still in a huge amount of pain and won't eat. Today we should have been at a family wedding, so she was really down.
I come home with a terrible headache and jaw-ache every day and then have to catch up with all the phone calls and other necessities.
I have a meeting in the morning with a Care Worker to discuss Care Home options as she is going to need Respite Care after hospital.
Saversue, sorry to hear this. From experience, when you have the meeting to discuss your mums care plan, stay strong on what you want for your mum, not what the care worker wants. x0 -
Logging on quickly to send hugs to LEJC & Sue.
Hope everyone else is well xxCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.0 -

Good evening. Interesting discussion on weddings - I suspect that it largely depends on family financial circumstances these days and which generation you are from. There seems to be a growing trend of people going overseas for weddings and then guests carry many of the costs. There are probably more people living together before marriage now too and getting married later in life, so possibly are into careers and more able to contribute.

I used to think the idea of marrying abroad was a good money-saving option. But then I was thinking the happy couple just went off on holiday and made their vows on a sun-drenched beach in a very low-key ceremony.
These days it seems that marrying abroad involves the entire family and requires guests to buy flights and hotels, so it must be horrendously expensive to accept an invitation to one of those.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -

It does - we were invited to a family wedding overseas and it was going to cost us thousands to attend and at least a week away. Their argument was it was much cheaper to get married abroad ... for them it was, yes. We ended up having to decline, fortunately they understood but it could have ended badly if offence had been caused as they are close family

i have just endured one of the most nerve racking and frightening 6 hours of my life..
I broke down on the A10 on the way to London, going along at 60mph then all of a sudden no power!!..the car died...
A lovely lady PC:A helped me push the car onto the grass verge, this was at 5.30pm and after phone calls i waited and waited and waited til 8pm when help finally arrived..but the recovery man could do nothing, the car needed a garage:(...so again i waited and waited till nearly 9.30pm when the breakdown truck arrived..but they would either take me home or take the car to the garage..so off to the garage it was and DH at nearly 11.30 had to drive and pick me up.
The frightening part was stuck on the side of the road with lorries thundering passed and cars bombing along as if they were in todays grand prix, It became better as it got dark--but that is when i felt very vulnerable:eek:, not much traffic:eek: no street lighting:eek: and no moon :eek:and i was starting to get cold the only company was the tick tick of the hazard warning lights...and then these lights headed towards me blinding me, i made sure the doors were locked and by this time was sitting in the passenger seat, a motorcyclist drew up beside me and asked if i was ok and then went on his way, it was very kind of him but initially the lights gave me the collywobbles as he drove up to my car:eek:.
Well at least i home again now but carless, so off to London tomorrow by train...:)0
