Good morning all, cloudy one here, but washing has nearly dried outside overnight. Hoping to finish packing todayi have just endured one of the most nerve racking and frightening 6 hours of my life..
I broke down on the A10 on the way to London, going along at 60mph then all of a sudden no power!!..the car died...
A lovely lady PC:A helped me push the car onto the grass verge, this was at 5.30pm and after phone calls i waited and waited and waited til 8pm when help finally arrived..but the recovery man could do nothing, the car needed a garage:(...so again i waited and waited till nearly 9.30pm when the breakdown truck arrived..but they would either take me home or take the car to the garage..so off to the garage it was and DH at nearly 11.30 had to drive and pick me up.
The frightening part was stuck on the side of the road with lorries thundering passed and cars bombing along as if they were in todays grand prix, It became better as it got dark--but that is when i felt very vulnerable:eek:, not much traffic:eek: no street lighting:eek: and no moon :eek:and i was starting to get cold the only company was the tick tick of the hazard warning lights...and then these lights headed towards me blinding me, i made sure the doors were locked and by this time was sitting in the passenger seat, a motorcyclist drew up beside me and asked if i was ok and then went on his way, it was very kind of him but initially the lights gave me the collywobbles as he drove up to my car:eek:.
Well at least i home again now but carless, so off to London tomorrow by train...:)
That must have been terrifying.
It is also why I always get the RAC membership out of clubcard points. They prioritise lone females too, might be worth considering breakdown cover?
Glad you're home safe anyway, hope the car isn't too expensive to fix :eek:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Morning all, hope everyone is well.
Can I please ask if anyone knows what restrictions are for selling on of packaged sweets ? For example if I opened a tin of quality street, split them down & packaged nice for Christmas. Am I allowed to sell on like this ? Tia xx
I don't KNOW but I can't see that there would be a problem, might be a good idea to make sure you transferred the use by date though. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I had a lovely weekend on my own. Weather was lovely and I got a lot of gardening done and did some ebaying. my direct family are away on hols in cornwall and even my sister didnt call me. She is a bit off with me cause after my health scare i'm trying to let my brothers and sister take over my Mums care and they don't like it! Too bad. I realise I have to care for myself . Got my blood tests back waiting to see dr for the results. However receptionist gave me a copy and it seems my b12 and iron are low ( which dr said it might be) so I got myself some iron tablets from H&B at weekend.
Re weddings my son and his wife paid for most of theirs with a nominal contribution from OH and I. I paid most of my daughters although his parents paid for the marquee and my sister did the catering and other sis paid for the cake. I dont begrudge it though as ds went to private school and she didnt.0 -

I don't know either, sorry, but I've seen mini assortments in cellophane in Christmas mugs as table gifts at a large gathering and they looked quite nice with some ribbon.
The new flow-wrap on Roses (much as I dislike it) at least means each sweet is now individually sealed in its wrap, don't know if QS have done the same.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0
