TM, you now having me thinking about things that may never happen!

Evening all.
I've been for an afternoon out.
I have family in Lancing(a few miles from Worthing).Already arranged to visit today. They wanted to go to Worthing to buy an iron so I went with them to get my seeds.
On the way back getting petrol they decided to get the car washed.I said I don't like automatic ones but thought this may have changed. It's over 20 years since I last went through one.
Of course it got stuck half way through and I felt very queasy. It's the feeling that you are moving when you're not.
Someone got out to call an assistant and it continued it's cycle.
Glad to get out of there.
Anyway they gave me a few wombles to check and one had a small glitch on it.

Hello, not long back from the hospital.
Mum is still in a huge amount of pain and won't eat. Today we should have been at a family wedding, so she was really down.
I come home with a terrible headache and jaw-ache every day and then have to catch up with all the phone calls and other necessities.
I have a meeting in the morning with a Care Worker to discuss Care Home options as she is going to need Respite Care after hospital.
We've been wondering how things were with you Sue......you sound exhausted:o
Good luck with your meeting tomorrowTo do is to be. Rousseau

Thanks everyone for your replies:A:A
Thats a darn good idea. Saves the prices being ramped right up just because it is a wedding.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Dreading what answers you might get to this, what with having three girls.
What they did though was put a little in an account for each of us and when we left home we could either use to buy stuff for house or wedding, but once it was gone was gone . Considering only 1 got married and then left home us others spent on stuff for house, it was about £1000 and this was 29 yrs ago for meHello, not long back from the hospital.

I got married 30 years ago, and even back then both sets of parents put in the same amount and anything over that budget we paid for.
We have told DD that she has £xx,xxx amount in her wedding pot, she has asked if they can use it for a deposit on a house, but she understands that if/when they get married they are not getting anymore money from us.I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. TrulyMadly wrote: »Can I ask the Elite what the current protocol is when your children marry......who pays for what these days?
I promise this is not for me....I think my two are years away from that but a friend has asked me and I haven't got a clue.
If you have a son, should you offer to contribute to the wedding?
Any advice will be passed on:)
Off for a catch up
Hey....it's been red hot today:T:T
I don't think there is a protocol anymore. Parents contribute if they wish, and how much they can afford.
I paid for my own wedding 20+ years ago with no financial contribution for anyone else, likewise my sister also paid for her own 25+ years ago. However, my two brothers got married more recently (both within the past 4 years) and received contributions from the brides parents, although they funded the bulk of the weddings themselves. My sister and I got married in our early 20s whilst my brothers got married in their late 30s.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
