Could have hit a problem with house :( states on these forms if income under 30 x the rent then will need a guarantor, I thought ok as the joint income is over that but supposedly we're classed as seperate applicants as we are not married and both need to be earning that a year, we're not both on £20k a year each, if we were we'd be buying a house not renting. Won't know for definate until Monday but a bit annoyed/upset about it now as I don't have a suitable guarantor and don't think DP would be able to get one either. Darn it! Oh well think I'll have a look for alternative houses this evening.

Kids dinner in oven, going to have mine later, don't feel like it now.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Evening all

Well done on your new little girl JillD :)

Hope you get over the house problem lil_me, or if not that something else good turns up.

Got computer back again this afternoon, hopefully it's really OK now. So far, so good.

I've more or less kept up with everything I think. Got three loads of washing done today, lovely sunny weather, including DD's bedding and the throws from the living room.

While the computer wasn't here I sorted out lots of paperwork and did much shredding (I love shredding), and tidied out a few cupboards. There wasn't much to throw away but it had got muddly from stuff just being shoved back in.

Lil-me - Don't they class you as 'living together as if married'?
Most forms that I have to fill in give this option.
Who is it that stipulates this, is it the owners or an agent?
If it is an agent, it might be worth talking to the owner to see if they will accept you on the grounds that you already live together.

I really hope that they will treat it that way and will be keeping everything crossed for you for Monday, I would hate to see you lose this place knowing how much you like it.

Evening all :hello: Back from an adventure with DD - we went to Wigan for the afternoon :D But back to the grind stone. I want to get everything sorted tonight before OH gets back from his weekend away so we can spend the evening together.

So tonight & tomorrow I plan on getting the following done:

    Kitchen
    Clean floors,
    Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Wipe window sills and clean windows in these rooms
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week
    Living Room, Hall and Stairs

    Vacuum floors and sofas
    Dusting, even if around everything
    Remove clutter
Clean the fluff from the fire
    Master Bedroom & Landing
Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs
Vacuum floors in bedroom and on landing
    Defluff and demuck woodwork
    Clean windows in these rooms
    Bathroom
    Clean floor
Clean the brushes/dust box/filters on the vacuum cleaner
    Kids rooms
Vacuum the floor, even if it's just where you can see
Clear away anything that isn't in it's place, clothes, toys, books etc
    Dusting
Strip beds and replace with fresh linen
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors

Right, first things first I've got an email that was marked not suitable to open while DD was around so I'm off to see what that is (I dread to think :rotfl: ) then I best get the fire on and get some washing dried off now the sun has gone down  Laters

    Thanks sproggi

It's the agent stating this, for it to go through their referencing, no option of married or living together as, just asks relationship to applicant on the form somewhere to which we put partner. They said anyone over 18 has to be a joint applicant regardless (even if we say had a child over 18 they would be) Supposedly it's incase we split up, but like I said I know more people who aren't married who are still together than those who are! Married couples someone could walk out, they'd still be signed to same tenancy and jointly responsible.

:( got me rather upset, especially that it's Saturday and I won't be able to find out what to do until Monday. Of course our deposit is sat there aswell (she told us this after I handed the money over) Putting extra stress on our relationship aswell, DP now had several rants over it, nothing much I can do until Monday. Will power to declutter/get packed up has also now fizzled. They're one of the biggest agents in the area so a lot of properties go through them and if this is the case we'll have to narrow where we look even further.

Apology for the rant but just stressing me even more talking to DP over it so noone else to let off steam to tonight.

Don't worry hun, you rant away!!

Ok, I don't know your housing situation at the moment (as in whether you are private renting etc) but another thought that occured to me is, can you get any glowing refs from your landlord/former landlord? Something along the lines of 'Lil-me has been a model tenant for xx years, kept house in good order, paid on time' etc.

If you can do this, if the agents turn you down, it might be porth approaching the owner with the ref and, explaining the problem with the agents, asking whether they would be willing to sign up to a private agreement (all properly set obviously). The owner has to pay the agent a set fee and they might be willing to go ahead knowing that this would save them money:confused:

I know it is a risk, but if it is properly done, it could benefit both of you.

Oh and if the place falls through, I would expect you to get your deposit back, you were not made aware of the conditions until after the payment was made.

lil_me sorry to hear about your house troubles, life is full of hurdles often which are unnecessary

Not really done any flying, just dailies and me time. Did get some boxes to keep the kids school work in from last year so I think I'll look through it with them tomorrow and decide what to keep - that willclear a pile from the family room floor.

Hoping to get the ironing done tomorrow - might do a bit tonight if the kids and OH ever stop screaming at each other. Another war to go and sort out now and 2 of the kids beds to make.

  • Don't give up hope Lil_me, 'what's for you will not go past you' as my Mother says.
Gingergirl, Pigpen enjoy your night outs and anyone else who's off to party tonight. Please don't have one for me.

Two hour round trip to fetch my car from work and am just about to tuck in to a take away. I figured as I didn't spend more than a fiver last night I could indulge my lazyness this evening.

  • lil_me my fingers are crossed for you. I am shocked they dont accept partners living together as married. Isnt it something along the lines of if you have been together living as married for 3 or more years you have the same rights as a married couple. Otherwise its discrimination (its sometimes worth dropping that word in conversations as its amazing what happens....)

I would definitely try and approach the owners of the house direct. We did this and they were able to drop the rent by £50 a month as they weren't having to pay fees to the agency and they still made more money on the house than they would have done and we saved £50.

I currently rent privately and i had a good read of the contract (my dad did too and seemed happy with it) and its worked out surprisingly well.

    Fingers crossed for you.
  • Shhhh, don't tell Pigpen ...........Just sneaking in, not done alot of flying this week but needed to say....

Well Done Jill - hope you and our new little flylady are well!

Lil_me - keeping my fingers crossed things turn out ok for you

    ........night-night xx
