It's plain wrong to make someone feel they HAVE to send a card.
Unless her OH would like to send his parents a card but lulu has decided he shouldn't?
My MIL would be very upset if she didn't receive cards from us on birthdays and anniversaries. We don't send cards because we feel forced to but because we love her and like to do things that make her happy.0 -

That's very nice, I guess your MIL isn't the sort of person who doesn't talk to you for months because you forget send a card due to your OH being in hospital undergoing surgery.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I agree. If you're made to feel you have to send a card or all hell would break loose, then that's not right, and takes any sentiment straight out of it. It's meaningless IMO.0 -
I also leave cards up for at least a week. I didn't realise there was a time limit!
Might leave them up longer in future. I will appreciate getting a card more now I know so many people don't bother sending them
We've always left ours up until the next person in the house has a birthday! Never occurred to me that all our visitors might think we were totally bonkers :rotfl:0 -

I personally think cards are meaningless, but my mum doesn't, she likes a card, especially at christmas, and if I haven't posted mine in plenty of time I get a text reminder from her about when she is intending decorating her walls with them (they get displayed on the wall in strict order, and as one of her children, mine has to be displayed in a certain place on the wall, so mine has to be there before she starts the strategic placement).
That sounds so weird when I've read that back :rotfl:.0 -

I do that but I'd wager our birthdays are more plentiful and smaller gaps between.. I do take down DS3's to replace with mothers day cards and they are stashed after a week so we have none up until June then.. Everyone knows we are bonkers.. its a pain dusting 6 month old cards thoughballetshoes wrote: »I personally think cards are meaningless, but my mum doesn't, she likes a card, especially at christmas, and if I haven't posted mine in plenty of time I get a text reminder from her about when she is intending decorating her walls with them (they get displayed on the wall in strict order, and as one of her children, mine has to be displayed in a certain place on the wall, so mine has to be there before she starts the strategic placement).
