Now all cars are automatically regularly checked to ensure they are covered by insurance or SORN, and action is taken if no insurance is in place at any time throughout the year
But, I already said that ""Insurance now automatically checked against central database"
When I get a response from the DVLA you can read it here

Your (typical) continued refusal to stand corrected over the dangerous/scaremongering/sensational posts you are making over MOT certificates just bring this forum into disrepute.
Telling the OP he was uninsured/faced jail etc
As pogofish rightfully said
"However, above RTA level, no MOT may well affect your overall/additional cover - which could mean the insurer voiding or reducing any payment or attempting to recover costs off you." That in turn means that if the insurer voids your insurance and you have killed someone, then yes, you could face going to prison. This has happened a few times recently.
Of course it's not scaremongering, it is fact and serves as a timely reminder to ensure you are inline with the requirements of driving a car on the roads
is just more of your rabble rousing, and fortunately your continued stance (of being the only one in step) at least will have convinced the OP and any other Newbies to ignore your "advice" now and in future.
What does bring down this forum is your rudeness which has been going on for a year now with total disregard to the Forum Etiquette.
The OP by the way did not ignore, he got himself a new MOT and the problem with your statement above telling people to ignore is indeed fool hardy advice .[/QUOTE]
And further advice would be to check with your insurer what would happen if you had a RTA and no MOT ?0 -
Do you honestly think that a knowingly uninsured driver is going to bother about taxing and mot-ing their vehicle, what would be the point ? If they are driving without insurance they are more than likely not to have the other two.
FWIW I bought a car in April and the garage I bought it off taxed it for me without seeing any insurance docs. (I only insured it the day I collected it, yet they taxed it 4 days earlier.
Well as said, the car I am buying from a main dealer want a copy of my insurance so they can tax it on the day I take delivery0 -

As already posted you can safely ignore any insurer that tells you that your insurance is void if you have no MOT!
This is an urban myth perpetuated by some unscrupoulous insurers to try and convince the gullible/naive that their claims are rejected because they have no MOT.
The FOS has ruled that such conditions are unenforceable.
To confirm - your advice (and that from pogofish) over allowing your MOT to expire means your insurance is voided is wrong.0 -
Why keep repeating this incorrect info.

The UK is full of unscrupulous traders as we see on this forum.
And the UK is full of gullible people who have never heard of the FOS hence for their security they should check, might just open a few eyes. To assume that everyone is street wise is very wrong0 -

You are the one who needs to check! (Not with your insurer - the FOS!)
Then come back and stand corrected.
MSE forum has helped a number of people who have mistakenly believed the myth you are perpetuating (no MOT = void insurance)
A quick search brought up this one, but there are plenty of others:
