I was actually annoyed with myself , my own (normal) bike insurance co for multibikes would not insure on a chassis number , so I had to go to another multibike Co , who charged me considerably more
then the DVLA told me no insurance was needed
I could have got it registered , with ved and a new reg issued then just phoned my old company up and added it onSave a Rachael

FORM V11
TO TAX A VEHICLE
Cars over 3 years old need a valid MOT certificate
By law, all drivers must be covered by motor insurance
Try not to confuse people
form v11 is out of date , it still tells you that a tax disk will be posted to you!
ring the DVLA , or go into a PO , its only NI that insurance docs need to be shown

First no more discs in the windscreen and now for the first time in 40 years you won't have to hunt down an insurance certificate to buy your car tax either

I have just gone thru this palaver with the DVLA!
I had no access to a printer when filling in the v55 for that bike , so I rang the DVLA to ask if they would accept a ref number
as of some time ago , you do not need valid insurance to tax a bike/car
don't believe me , ask your local post office.
in the words of the DVLA , we use the police to sort this out , heavy fines and crushing etc
To be honest I don't know what you are talking about, maybe an import but nothing whatsoever to do wth the OP.
Are you saying you don't need insurance or road tax to drive on UK roads with that bike or ... if caught the police will seize the bike for no tax or insurance ? best not ride it on the public highway0 -
ok step back,
driving a car in the UK without an MOT does not invalidate your insurance
no one in England/wales or Scotland has to show there insurance doccis when taxing a car/bike
any vehicle that is imported , or even ex army and needs to be registered with the DVLA can be driven without a mot and with no numberplates when going for its first MOT
BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE INSURANCE!!!
back to page one , having no MOT does not invalidate your insuranceSave a Rachael

Of course V11 is out of date and that includes the charges.
BUT.... YOU MISSED OUT ...
"Insurance now automatically checked against central database"
So be it online or at a PO, NO VALID INSURANCE, NO TAX0 -

POINT MISSED

You will get caught out with no insurance via CIE, but don't need a certificate to buy your tax.
