    rubbish!

    a: a new car under 3 yrs old has not got an MOT

    b: you are allowed to drive to an MOT station , without an MOT

    c: an MOT is not proof that the car is roadworthy , its a statement that on the day it was presented for a test , it was fit to pass one

    a insurance co can reduce payout if after an accident (with no MOT) serious faults are observed.

    READ IT .... the op said "expired 10 days previously" meaning it is more than 3 years old ????
    Nobody said that with an MOT it is roadworthy, try that with an insurance company

    Here we go again

    Hardly, do check with your insurer first, or try and get a quote stating no MOT

    Bit of a myth that one. FSA ruled some considerable time ago that no-MOT would not affect your Road Traffic Act level cover. The full details are in past threads here if you want to search.

    do you know that you can drive on the road LEGALLY with no MOT or numberplates?

    imported vehicle going for its first mot in the UK , mot needed for registration

    and YES I have just done this

    However, above RTA level, no MOT may well affect your overall/additional cover - which could mean the insurer voiding or reducing any payment or attempting to recover costs off you. You would need to go through the small print carefully to find what applies on your policy as it varies by individual company.

    Guess in the OP's case and a £100 fine, the police do not agree

    agree with what ? the OP is not being charged with no insurance , Don't you think that if you were correct (no MOT = no insurance) they would have jumped on the OP

    to tax a vehicle

    insurance = no
    driving licence = no
    Mot = yes

    if you drive with no MOT, meaning not insured, and you hit someone and kill them, it probably means prison for you.

    Yet again your repeated advice is so wrong and so misleading that others have to continually correct you to protect others who might mistake your authoritative way of posting to reflect some qualification for a topic.

    No insurer asks if your car has an MOT in its quote process.

    Not having a current MOT does not invalidate your insurance!

    Having a current MOT does not mean your car is roadworthy!

    no you do not need valid insurance !!!

    I have just gone thru this palaver with the DVLA!

    I had no access to a printer when filling in the v55 for that bike , so I rang the DVLA to ask if they would accept a ref number

    as of some time ago , you do not need valid insurance to tax a bike/car

    don't believe me , ask your local post office.

    in the words of the DVLA , we use the police to sort this out , heavy fines and crushing etc
