I would be interested to know when the February bills start hitting e-mail boxes next month whether Iresa has used the correct truncated average daily calorific value for your region when converting gas volume to kWhs.

Something seems to be happening as all the confusing transactions have disappeared from both my electricity and gas accounts. Then again, it could just be another Iresa technical issue.

Update: My excitement got the better of me. The transactions have re-appeared with no changes.

Everything seems to be going OK with my switch from E-on to Iresa. Electricity switches tomorrow (28th Feb) and my gas switches 2nd March

How long has this taken ? ie when did you order the switch ?

My concern is that, if you leave a dual fuel tariff and there is a gap between electricity and gas takeover, the original supplier will charge the standard rate on the remaining fuel. (I know that if still in the fixed term they must keep to the fix, but if one utility leaves, you have broken the contract.)

With respect, in all the switches that I have done over the years from dual fuel to separate suppliers that has never happened. It never happened when my gas switch took 3 months to transfer: I have always remained on my old tariff until the switches have gone through. If what you are worrying was to happen, then you are probably talking pence not £s.

@teddysmum -I started the switches on 3rd Feb - gas has (presumably) switched yesterday and leccy is due to switch on Friday 3rd March.
IF EON charge at the higher rate for the 5 day difference, I estimate that I'll pay ~ £1 more -but I THINK that the EON rep. confirmed that the rates would be maintained for 20 days after tariff end date EVEN IF the switches weren't concurrent.

It's the date the account is applied for that's important brewerdave. For customers on fixed tariffs, provided the new supplier applies to takeover within the Price Protection window, we'll charge the cheaper prices up to the supply end date and waive any exit fees. This window is open 49 calendar days before the tariff end date until 20 working days after.

Even if there are a few days between the two fuels moving over, as long as the new supplier has been in touch within the window, the customer will be okay.

    Hope this explains.

As above teggy in my reply to brewerdave. Don't worry the fuels are switching on different dates. Provided the account was applied for within the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before a fixed tariff ends until 20 working days after), we'll keep you on the cheaper prices up to the supply end dates. This is the same even where the fuels move over on different dates.

Sorry to lose you teggy but hope this explains.

Hope the above posts (#277 and #278) explain teddysmum. Provided the above happens, the contract hasn't been broken and the cheaper prices will apply on both fuels up to the respective supply end dates.

Let me know if unsure as happy to help.

I started my switch from BG to Iresa in early Feb. My electric switches tomo (2nd March) but no news on gas yet. Reading above, this seems normal though. Can anyone confirm?

Sounds similar to me. My Electricity starts today (1st March). I've submitted my meter reading to them. The website accepted the meter reading but it's not yet showing up on my account. However, I did get an acknowledgement of the reading via email from them within minutes.

No news on when my Gas is being activated yet though..
