I do hate to abandon a sinking ship ....no that's a lie. Can't see my January bill at the moment - I keep getting an error message when I click on the bill icon and then get thrown out of their system.
Anyhow I currently have electricity only with Iresa. I have a small debit balance with them (circa £20), according to the summary line. I would like to start a switch but have seen posts that indicate that Iresa block switches if you are in debit. Would it be prudent to make an additional payment to my monthly DD to ensure that the account is just in credit before I start the switching process? Thank you for any advice!0 -
Can YOU actually make an additional DD payment? The whole point of DD is you are giving them permission to take money from your account, you can't as far as I know push money to them That's what standing orders are for.0

A supplier shouldn't block you from switching with a debit balance of only £20. From the Ofgem website:
Quote: ....!!!8216;debt objections!!!8217; may occur only where a supplier has notified the customer in writing about an outstanding charge on the account and the charge has then remained unpaid for at least 28 days by the time of the attempted switch. Unquote
As Iresa is currently under investigation by Ofgem, I would just initiate a switch and see what happens.
As stated above, there is no way that you can change your DD payment. You can only ask the supplier to increase your DD payment. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Its not possible to choose to make payments to cover your debt. Bizarre that capable and willing customers are prevented from managing their accounts in this way when many seem more capable that Iresa.Would it be prudent to make an additional payment to my monthly DD to ensure that the account is just in credit before I start the switching process? I am very happy with the IRESA
Since last year until now I have no complaint to Iresa.
Quote: I understand why some people do not like it.
Because they do not know how to use the web page for meter readings or any problem (Questions).
I am very happy with the IRESA company and I understand if they have more telephone operators, they will increase the tariff.
I'm used to doing everything on the internet, but if it's not, it's best not to work with IRESA. Unquote
Clearly, all Iresa's woes have been caused by their customers!! It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
At least if IRESA "staff" are posting on Trustpilot they won't have time to screw with the accounts and billing databases:rotfl:0

They should try phoning them to thank them for their great service. If they're lucky they'll get through in an hour.Quote:Published 5 hours ago

Thank you for all the replies. I was looking to just make a one off payment myself to clear the £20 debit balance, (not adjusting the DD). If I can't, so be it. I've instigated a switch. All fingers crossed the switch goes smoothly.0
