Thank you pliusas I have messaged the 200 phrases person.
dave I did the money makeover about two months ago but am doing it again today and being tougher. Our buildings and contents insurance with NFU is a whopping £91.96 per month. I think, no, I know I can get it cheaper.

ali-t I will have a look at dog sitters. They could help with the cats and hens too, though the neighbours are good at looking after them. It is just the dog is a very large rescue dog and totally daft :D

We have looked at lots of dogs for others, maybe I could ask someone to return the favour......

I have cancelled our DD to Nat Ins as Mr P doesn't need to pay as a self employed person any more. And have printed the form for him to claim Carers credit. He looks after me and DS2..

Last month I cancelled Sky channels and now have the basic package. A massive £70 a month saving :D

Lovely to see you back pooh. Happy new thread!

Is the cottage all booked up? Xx

    Hi Lucky,

The cottage is booked from mid August until November. But we really need July and August filled to pay the cottage mortgage and other bills. The most expensive weeks are still available which is a bit stressful...... still hoping... and we have reduced some already.

£16.55 cashback claimed from Quidco today. Still just small amounts but working on a variety of others I would never of thought of without this thread.

Last night I signed up for four university research projects which pay just a little. There was one on offer in Leeds which required a two week stay and was worth £2000. I can't do it as I have hospital appointments during that time but it might be of use to someone else on here. I don't think either Mr P or I fit their criteria but it does show these offers are available for fitter and healthier people.

I have signed up to Make £10 a day and will make some time each day to pursue my £10 each day....

We have had a chat about airbnb for our own home. Mr P is still not happy but accepts that we have to come up with something more concrete to make some money fast. And having people here for one nighters is probably easier for him than having a lodger...

The other option is to offer a room as storage to someone who needs to store items in a dry place. Most lockups around here are pretty damp because of the climate....

I have my mum's gold watch..... which I could sell but not for anywhere near it's sentimental value :( If we get close to needing the cash I will sell but will hold off for now.

Fbook has some good local selling pages so I am putting some mirrors and pictures on there. Things I will find it difficult to post...

Will update signature later. I might find more cash somewhere.....

Cashback is all very well, but most of the larger amounts require you to be spending. Sometimes these things are necessities, but it's no good if you're spending on things you don't need- or maybe don't need to buy new (think second hand, beg, borrow- not steal!) Also it's never guaranteed, a number of mine never paid out.

Where do you sign up to do these University research projects? Never heard of ones that pay reasonably well or require overnight stays etc.

Beware foreign students- we looked into this and some companies wanted us to have landlord's gas safety certificates and more. For the measly rates they were paying, it wasn't worth it. Others have very specific requirements about types of furniture and food to be provided which we couldn't accommodate.

Also, for either Air BNB, foreign students or storage- you will need to contact your home insurer and potentially up your coverage. Ends up being more expensive than it's worth sometimes.

I'd really advise you read some of MSEs guides on boosting your income. People are only repeating their advice here. I make £600-£1000 a month easily online by following their advice, so I don't think you need to be selling sentimental items unless you want to. Have you thought about trading in books- I love https://www.webuybooks.co.uk and CEX for CDs, computer games and DVDs. Also you'd be surprised what some old mobiles and electrical can fetch. But again, all this advice is in the guides.

I've had a look at a couple of those guides to earning money online (that list 30 or 50 tips or so) but maybe I need to look at them again because I don't earn anywhere near that amount per month! In fact not even 3 figures, never mind 4!

So, can you mention a couple of your best sites? Best in terms of your own earnings, rather than helped by referrals, I mean.
And how much time does it take, both for those and in total for the month?

If you are selling stuff on ebay, dont overlook selling broken things for spare or repairs. I have bought a few things like that for the spare parts because it is so much cheaper.

I do wish people would read what the OP has written.

I did, she said she had a pension and was on esa and something else.

I asked if her fella could get a p/t job, i wasnt aware that she said anything about her fella not being able to work?

I wish people wouldnt make a fool of themselves trying to be a smart !!! whilst simultaneously trying to be a nob. So very uncouth.

knitwitch I entered, thank you for the info......haven't heard anything though :(

spadoosh beanie was trying to help

culpepper, I sent Mr P to the recycling centre recently with lots of broken and unrepairable things......next time I will list on 3bay.

Wizzbang thanks for the info re students etc. I hadn't thought of the insurance.....also our dog doesn't like strangers, might make it tricky...

Yesterday I didn't make any extra money but today I have reduced our home buildings and contents insurance by £23 a month. Apparently we were insured for contents worth £60,000!!! I wish :D So I will be putting £23 into our savings account next month.

It is DGD's 4th birthday tomorrow and frugal Grandma is going to spend Nectar points towards buying her pressie at Argos. I have £9 to spend :)

Her partner is also on a pension, and some background that possibly wasn't mentioned in the first post, but has been mentioned in previous threads is that he is also not well, not quite to ESA standards but not well.
