I'd have thought the overlocker was an essential investment.
Hurrah for the jeans and jumper, at least that's one hated task out of the way.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks redo. Yes the jeans thing had been put off for so long.
I have also munched another frog. I have sent a PPI claim for my first mortgage. I have been putting that one off too. Fingers crossed for a few pennies.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

I'm more impressed by the jeans than the overlocker. Thank you INOD, Cherry and DIA.
Yesterday was a good day. My overlockers arrived and my goodness I didn't realise how much I missed having one until I used it. I will be able to complete work much more quickly and be able to do more which means a bigger income.:j To be honest I tended to use my old one in a very basic manner so I'm going to start to see how I can use this one in other ways, such as rolled hem, etc.
I've not heard anything about the PPI but I did only do the online form yesterday.:rotfl: A little more patience needed I think. It's worth a try. I have some cards which were declined PPI six years ago, particularly Amex and Egg. I'm not sure if I should try again.
I managed to Declutter a six foot wrought iron garden gate to a neighbour yesterday.:j which has cleared the path into the garden.:T. I helped him carry it down the road and he asked if I had ever seen his garden. Anyway he lives in the same style terrace as me but he only has the ground floor as it has been split into flats. Oh my word, it was lovely and he had built this gorgeous little veranda/conservatory thing by the back door leading onto the side return. I wanted one immediately. It's so amazing how when you live in a place you become so blind to what could be done. I just love to look at what others have done as it sparks the creative juices. He garden was tiny, well minuscule but he had done that nicely too. I have a very long garden but would love a cottage style garden look. Oh well, I will keep working on it and open my mind more to ideas. Added to that I'm overlooked by two tower block which will be coming down soon so that adds a little more incentive to get it sorted. So many ideas rattling around in my head now. If only I had loads of free time and loads of money. Another reason the get the sewing business as profitable as I can and the debts paid off so I can dump the paid job.
Now the negative. I'm such a fatty and it's really taking a toll. I'm trying to get this sorted. Cherry is running and DIA is now a gym bunny. Where do I start? I'm about three stone overweight and 5' 2". I would like to get rid of the three stone and get back to 9st. The problem is that the weight is causing so much pain the thought of exercise scares me a little.....but if I don't lose it I will have to keep dealing with the pain. So baby steps. Step one this week is to dramatically up my water intake which always makes me feel better, cut out the bread and cheese (I love cheese) and go for a daily walk. I lost a stone a few years ago just doing this. I know I'm not one of those 600lb people (how do those people do it, they must feel so poorly) but it's starting to affect my life.
Now it's 18 weeks to christmas, sorry, and I have 42lbs to lose. If I lose two pound a week between now and the I will lose 36lbs. I'm not a big, stuff my face over christmas type so this won't be an issue. That will leave 6 lbs to lose. A possible challenge? I think I will make a chart and stick it on the fridge. Also DH is going back on his health regime after his birthday in two week (the big 50) so this will help.
So today. If DS ever wakes up its bath time for him then we are going to Himley Hall to feed the ducks. Perhaps we can take a ball and play for a while. Then I need to get DH's birthday shirts done now I have the new equipment.:j
I will say bye for now and have a good day.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

PH, my weight fluctuates and it has a major impact on my health. For me the issue is not just bread but all grains as there appears to be a direct relationship between me eating grains and flares sadly. I mostly eat meat, nuts, fruit and veg now. And wine, obviously. I have to ration cheese sadly. I liked slimming world red for the same reasons, but didn't realise at the time it was the reduction in grains that works for me. Maybe try making half of everything you eat vegetables? There is a slimming world thread on OS where they explain the approach rather than pay to go and join something.
Anyway I was rather overweight and scarily unfit when I started running - did the couch to 5k with the podcasts. Its amazing how quickly you can re-programme your body to run, I would never have believed that ten weeks in I could shuffle along for 40 minutes without needing to walk, when at the start I was out of breath going up the stairs. The financial barrier to running is that you need a sports bra, and the right trainers. Right trainers made all the difference in the world - stopped my shins from hurting.
I shouldn't run now because of the fibro but I do walk a lot. There are walking for weight loss plans on the internet, although I favour the never sitting down approach rather than a plan as such. I think the key thing is walking fast enough to up the heart rate and get into fat burn. I have a fitbit and find the challenges set by friends quite motivating. Will your DS be happy to walk with you?
Is there a park near you with the outdoor exercise equipment? Maybe DS can play on the proper park while you use the machines which might make it easier to fit in.
My OH bought an overlocker for his outdoor stuff, he absolutely loves it. I think he watched a lot of you tube videos to understand its capabilities. He will sew curtains for me but I have to measure and cut them so I haven't done much about it yet. Did buy the fabric - do you know the fabric mill shop in Northampton? They have a clearance room with a lot of £1/m fabric so I have a few rolls as a result. It's not far from the Tandy leather place so an expensive day out for us as he bought half a cow or something for making knife sheaths. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Toni'sfriend wrote: »I'm exactly the same and have similar problem with exercise although I like to walk. I just seem to find it so difficult to loose weight although I know it's all down to will power. I love cheese too and chocolate. I guess it;s just a case of not eating them and all the other things that are not very good for you. Good luck. I'm going to follow your progress and hopefully be inspired.
Dealing with weight is difficult Toni'sfriend. Even though the money/clutter thing has been moving along slowly, the weight thing just seems stuck. I worry as I'm nearly 47 and don't want to get to the point where its too late and do more damage.
I think i may towards the weight loss thread then try again. I do find it helpful to log food as well so use my fitness pal. I will have to head back there.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%
