Thank you INOD, uncanny scot and Abba. Things are moving along and documenting it is helping.
It's been good creating the space but it's just made us realise the uphill battle ahead, not that it can't be done. Since DH came on board it's been much easier too and things are moving more quickly. He even painted a door yesterday and he is not know for his painting skills.
I was back at work yesterday and have got a small payrise of 1.5%. It's the first one I have had in 15 years so a move in the right direction. I was talking to a colleague about my business and how i struggle to charge enough. Its something lots of people struggle with. She said I was charging too little. Her husband has just gone self employed and charges £25 per hour. Another collegues husband is a computer geek and charges £50 per hour. I really need to get organised and grow a pair.
Work was very boring and I had nothing to do all afternoon. Its made me realise I need to focus more on business. My aim for the coming year is to increase self employed income enough to drop this job to three or possibly two days. In the future I will just drop it completely, hopefully.
Regarding the payrise, I'm going to ignore it and budget the same as before, throwing the rest at debt.
Well I must get on and get ready. Have a good day all. P x1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

I can identify with setting a rate. It is hard to value yourself.
Well done on all the decluttering and so good to see OH is onboard. I can see that motivates you too.
You are doing great and your plan to change how you work going forward is inspiringIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

My cousin's husband used to do extra jobs in addition to his main employment (he was a painter and decorator) and he used to say that you should never undervalue your skills. People are expecting you to do a good job so why should they expect to get a massively cheap rate just because you're doing it in your own time.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

I pay someone £10 an hour to clean at Mum's house - more than I get for my own work! I did wonder if I should become a cleaner but I wouldn't enjoy it and I do enjoy what I do (apart from when I have to clean, LOL!)
Anyway - well done on the pay rise! You've waited a very long time for it. Have you looked at what others in your field are charging? That would give you an idea what your skills are truly worth.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
