How is the sewing room doing, parsnip? My knitting is taking over the dining table right now so I appreciate a sewing room may be a big job.
Doubly sure our houses are twinned - not just the kitchens but the bay windows! I hope you get it fixed soon. We discovered the leak in ours, which manifested in the middle, was to do with the lead flashing by the house wall being bent out of shape - very easy to fix, but not until DD had had an absolute drenching after a particularly memorable storm when the bay ceiling burst over her head!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Thanks all folks.
Eager Elephant, It was the Macmillan CAB who did the benefits check. I'm going to try again as even though she was lovely she was a bit scatty and kept writing things down wrong. I have my PIP claim in. Fingers crossed.
The sewing room.....oh my goodness. If I ever escape this chemo room I will start on it again tomorrow.
I've been reading a bit of Dave Ramsey while sitting on my bum again all day. It's going g to be hard but I'm really excited to start focussing on the debts again. I've cancelled my prime on am@zon and deleted the cards. I've also cancelled deez3r so with both I'm saving £17.98. It's a start.
When I get home I'm going to start looking at the budget again as I've let things slip so much in the past year. I'm a bit annoyed at myself to be honest. I'm feeling very focussed though.
I hope you are all doing well.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Great to hear you sounding so positive. Hope the side effects aren't too bad.
Do you have people to talk to who are going through the same thing? I know my dad found talking to friends going through treatment helped, and local friends have found support groups handy for helping them realise that what they are going through is normal.0 -

Definitely apply for PIP again Parsnip as the Macmillan CAB may have made a mistake.
A good idea to read Dave Ramsay, it's great to get motivated.

If you are not in a Universal Credit area then you would apply for contribution based ESA.
If you are in a UC area then you apply for new style ESA (basically contributions based but with a new name!!)
https://www.gov.uk/employment-support-allowance
Read this and then ring the correct number - if you are in a UC area the number you call has voice messages to pick options, they give loads of options but not to claim new style ESA, hold on for ages with it silent and then eventually the voice message gives you the option to claim new style ESA.
The forms for new style ESA are much easier and are emailed to you, you complete and print and then attend an appointment at your local jobcentre to hand in the form and ID etc.
Make sure you ask for backdating to when your SSP ran out and out the reason down as misadvised by Macmillan.
If you need any help give me a shout.0 -
Thank you all.
I still have a couple of weeks of SSP left which I did tell the Macmillan advisor so I'm not sure if this made a difference. I will ring the people you advised to.orrow and ask for advice. I'm still waiting for a reply on the pip. Just so.ething would help out and take away some of the stress.
I'm going to try to give the sewi g room another go tomorrow. I will have to see how I go after today's adventures. Whatever I will be back on here.:T1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Just popped in to cheer you along - could you perhaps do areas of the sewing room so you get a clear surface or a neat shelf to look at? All the best for tomorrow xI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hello all. I know I said I would post everyday but that comment was made prior to my 4 day post chemo slump, oh and did I slump. I'm still feeling a bit rubbish but not like I did for the past few days so :j.
I have a,few things I would like to get done this week. I know it's going to be difficult with DS at home for half term but I'm going to plod along.
My big thing this week is my PIP home visit. I'm feeling quite nervous about this to be honest as I really could do with some financial help but also hate going cap in hand begging. I know, I know please don't shout but when you've always been self sufficient it's difficult.
I must get up now. It's a bit late for me to be looking around in bed. Plus I need to get DS out and get him some new trousers. He is looking very Adrian Mole at the moment.:rotfl:

Hey, it’s great to see you posting at all. Just do what you can, when you can. Try not to get too stressed about the visit but I get that it’s more easily said than done. Can you maybe line up potential trouser choices from on line browsing to reduce shop time with ds? Shopping with my son still remains hell on earth for both of us. I have memories of bribing him to go buy himself Nutella crepes just for a 5 minute break from himMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
