No one knows. However, it does seem likely that the fear of another exit is likely to be the prime motivating factor. And the key leader is Merkel.
Not everyone is interested in the detail. However, you might be interested in closer detail of the goings on in the EU from a German perspective immediately following the brexit result. There are two parts, with a link to the second part at the bottom of the page. As with the previous item I linked the comments by readers are as interesting as the article.

:eek:dear oh dear, what are the Tories doing! :rotfl:
Theresa May will be a walkover! The EU must be laughing their heads off if she gets it!
Seriously they need a Brexiteer! She will sell us down the river with a pitiyful forward plan! For me I can only hope that Andrea Leadsom can beat her with the party vote or as I said before ,the Tories will loose in 2020! They loose my vote if she gets it as she cowardly hid away in the EU referendum! She was eyeing up her chances and has come out from the bushes to snatch the crown! :A. also it seems she does not go down well with the public from what I have seen and she is (NO) Thatcher! As said the EU and Putin will bury her with her negotiations and we will be a laughing stock,.
Seriously ,could you imagine Clinton,Merkel,May ,Jesus we are really going to be in the !!!!! ,though old Merkel the 'lover of the lower labour cost' will probably loose next year in Germany over the migrants fiasco! Though 3 liberal weak women with toxic baggage, man we are going to go into the abyss!Clinton if she wins in November will be tested by US enemies within minutes of her appointment and the US military hate her!
Did see old Kenneth Clarke slag off May> awkward woman to work with. Yeah I can believe it ,she looks so cold and evil and frankly her performances on Question Time have been Luke-warm!:rotfl:
Wonder what she will be like as PM? A strong Labour leader will bury her as her performances are lack-lustre! It's going to be a disaster!
Please as I am not a Tory Party member please vote for other than May or you will loose millions of votes, you'll loose mine! She will weak ands tin will be laughing:rotfl:.0 -

I think referendums should be banned and the last one held up as the definitive reason why.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -

I agree referendums for complex issues (which are most) are not sensible.
The point by Blutto about not have a brexiteer in charge is I'm afraid rather naive. With the exception of Gove, all the main Tory players took side according to their ambitions and positions rather than principle.
Boris couldn't make up his mind until he last moment then led vigorous campaign, Cameron is apparently a Eurosceptic and who offered referendum to win the last election then campaigned on the grounds that leaving would be disastrous and I can go on and on.
May also regarded as eurospectic who only chose Remain fairly late on, Leadsom is only a recent convert having previously came out very positively for EU membership, So in effect there is likely to be very little difference between May and Leadsom in relation to the EU.0 -

Yeah- Leadsom was heavily pro European until two years ago. Much more so than Boris ever was. All about positioning, rather than principle, as you say.Total - £340.00

The point is May is a cowardly opportunist and turncoat!
She hideaway and changed her tune just to be on the safe side in case of the scenario that Cameron stood down! It worked and please god she does not get it for the following.
1.turncoat,cowardly,opportunist,elitist,careerist.
2. Not much cop.not that great at he Homeoffice either.
3. Wafer thin is statesmanship to my view!
4. EU and Putin will bury her.
5. Most important she will not please Brexiteers. Will create a cop out!
6. She is SCARY looking! She gives me nightmares anyway!:rotfl:
7. Concerned she will not be able to be STRONG enough to deal with so many agreements that need to be made and argue for the BEST result for the Uk.Feel she will cave in as said (NO) THATCHER.
8. Feel Putin will regard her a lesser.
9. Not the best candidate for the job from the pool on offer.
10. Gove Is Proably best intellectually for the job but seems to be a bit SS Himler?
11. Both candidates will not be popular at the next General Election and if Labour gets its act together, will bury the Tories due to both candidates have no appeal really?
The frank point is none of what's on offer is really good enough or what is needed. The chosen one to follow Cameron blew out as hid bet his chips completely the wrong way and !!!!ed most of the Tory backbenchers off through the campaign. George Osbourne Lost all credibility really. Also why did he vanish when the ship was going down? Holding his head in hands thinking what have me and ego Cameron done? We should have listened, waited till 2018! I'm finished unless cap n hand get Foreign office or off to retire in the city boardroom!
Boris Johnson, even so a clever man just looks like he has rolled out of bed.shirt hanging out, hair all over the place that apparently is skilfully done but would look a right job at G8 summit eg.
Suprised no other back benches put their hat in the ring and I just wonder why Crabb and Fox came out for May as a plumb job is in store?
Did Gove actually run not to win but just to stop Boris as he feels he is not upto the job and rather May had it? Did he do a deal before the result with May or just after to plot to deshelve Boris for a home run for May?
Alan Duncun? Think he be good?
If it comes down to Gove and May the membership may plum for Gove as a true convert as May has always been a flip flop on this issue. Who ever gets it has got a mess to sort out as it seems to me Cameron had no other plan already typed out for himself or a successor to carry out if he lost!
We are in this mess as Cameron should have done what PM Wilson did ,stay out of it,keep his head above the beari pit and what ever the result was he would not be toxic to the result and could carry out the country's instruction.Got personally involved and lost bringing himself down from arrogance and ego! :j0
