Yeah, just throw chocolate at it. And use cocoa loaded butter cream filling, in as many slices as you can cut the cake into - and you can even use choclate fudge either as filling or just as the "icing".
Go for it!
Any way you like really.
There's no such thing as too much chocolate
I know there was a recipe kicking about the place many years ago - before the web took over from newsgroups! - which was seriously delicious. About the only thing I remember about it was instructions like --- "add some chocloate to... and then add some more chocolate... and then add some more chocolate... or cocoa powder where most appropriate.
I've no doubt somebody will come up with a sensible recipe... but honest - just add chocolate
Edit:- <sigh> I've just realised that I've got some chocloate icing lurking in the fridge that needs using up and half a bar of organic dark chocolate.. So now I can't decide whether to add it into a quick microwave chocolate sponge, or to melt it and pour it over the finished pud before covering it with custard... or even chocolate custard... <sigh>... decisions... decisions...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Use dark chocolate (Approx 70% cocoa) for chocolate cakes. Milk chocolate doesn't really work very well......0

70% will do in a pinch... 80% is betterHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Not enough chocolate
Kidding aside - it does indeed look delicious!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. That cake looks fabulous stressedoutmum!
Nigella's chocolate cake looks pretty good too. There's an older thread on Chocolate cakes that might help:
Chocolate cake tips and recipes please!
I'll add this thread to that one later to keep all the recipes together.

I've made pink-winged's choccie cake several times & everyone who's tried it loves it, DS even asked for it for his birthday cake ! Heaven knows how many calories are in it though !!

Hi there!
I would second the recommendation for Nigella's cake ALTHOUGH the amount of whipped cream she recommends is crazy (not even OH who has been known to eat just a bowl of whipped cream...I kid you not....would like that much!!)
Basically I've tried a few choc cake recipes and to get the kind of cake you're after I would recommend recipes that:
have very little or no flour
probably a couple of bars of melted 70% choc
lots of eggs, separated, whites whipped
then you get a really dense, moist cake.
Just found a recipe on the net that I've used a lot (sorry it seems American, I've got the book and it's with UK measures, but same result I'm sure!)

no idea what semi sweet choc is, but my recipe says dark choc, so the serious 70%+ stuff will do!0 -
We have tried many and all swear by Mr Bad Examples choc yoghurt cake - I use Green & Blacks cocoa and for decadence fill it and top it with choc buttercream. The thread is on the front page of OS ATM

What temperature did you use to cook the cake, there are comments after the recipe about temp could be a misprint0
