    Hi Sarah,

There's an earlier thread with lots of chocolate cake recipes that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the replies together.

Hi, i am making a large chocolate cake that i intend to bake in a traybake style as it is for a large crowd and easier to cut and transport.

I've made the usual basic mix with cocoa powder,a devils food one using vegetable oil, and a sort of quite heavy one almost brownie like.

Anyway looking for inspiration for a new recipe.
Do any of you have a favourite you would share with me?
If its in a cookery book let me know what one as i have many:D
    Thanks

Well, I do like my CYC. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • There's a whole thread on chocolate cakes here ;)

And, of course, there's the Mr BE yougurt cake thread :j

I'll add this thread to the first one later, to keep ideas together.

Nigella's chocolate orange cake and Nigella's chocolate raspberry cake. The first one is from How to be a Domestic Goddess I think and the second from How to Eat. The orange one I could eat the whole thing. The raspberry one is strictly one slice at a time as it is very very rich, but lovely still slightly warm with creme fraiche.

    Hello!
I'm after making a chocolate cake for my friend's birthday, can't seem to find a recipe that looks like it would work! Just wondering if anybody had one or could point me in the direction of one, I would prefer to make it all in one, not 2 separate tins if that makes sense, they always seem to come out a bit wobbly as the bottom layer rises. I have a springform caketin so would prefer to make it in that. Thinking of something a bit more exciting than a sponge with cocoa powder in it!
    Thanks for any ideas
