I always were going to be 2 set of doors. What I was very clear about was that there would be no separator between the doors. This was understood by the designer surveyor. Hopefully I will this weekend post a picture of how it should have looked.

To build a custom set of cupboards on top of the robes was what other companies founded on. You need to make custom doors and have proper joiners to make the things. The lack of a separator was never the issue.

Good. Then I suggest sending your own letter before action asking them to complete the work within 28 days, including all the important detail as mentioned above.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Think I will pay the final cost (taking off the £200) and then continue the process.

You're unlikely to get Hammonds to remove the wardrobes and refund you once you have paid.

Why on earth would you pay such a substantial sum of money to a company who have not fulfilled their contract??????

At the very least make it clear you are paying under protest pending further legal action.

I personally would send my own LBA giving them time (21 days) to finish the job for the final installment or remove for a refund.

  • Will know this weekend just how vital the separator Hammonds says it is when I dismantle the top cupboards. Will decide after and of course let you know.

I'd suggest you don't take anything apart. They will no doubt use that as an excuse to walk away from the issue.

You really need to stick to one course of action OP, you're jumping from one to another. Hammonds will be reading this thread and will be aware of your uncertainty, which is probably why they're acting as they are.

If you don't intend to keep the wardrobes then I would agree with fo, doing anything that might damage the item is not going to help you if you want to reject them.
  • There is little chance of damage. I would only do one of the two sets. The reason I would do it is that is is a simple way to show that Hammonds defence is not valid. The top cupboards are just screwed on, carefully taking them apart will do no damage. I will keep all the parts and screws for their collection. Their whole reason for adding the thing is that it the separator is vital and cannot be removed. This is easily disproved making their argument invalid.
