Check your gas usage in the web portal, odds are you have a day or two missing, or missing periods within a day. That will stop the automatic bill production from running. They can recover the missing data of course so I'd drop them an email to nudge things along ( smart@octopus.energy)
Thanks - I've done this and received a very quick reply saying that they are on it.

Well I received a message back from Octopus to say they had actioned my request for the Tracker tariff only to find out they have moved me onto the fixed 12m which is more expensive than the Go tariff I am currently on!!

I have emailed them back but it is taking days for them to get back to me so this has backfired, maybe I should have stayed on my Go tariff for the next few months until we have news on the car. Hopefully they should rectify 🤞

The plot thickens..they now say I am on a 2 rate meter so cannot be swapped to Tracker. I was on Go before today but have always had a single rate tariff with this smart meter previously.....aaaargh

They have come back to me and say it will take 6 weeks to swap over to Tracker as they need to change to single rate and then 6 weeks to swap back to Go when the car finally arrives.

It only took 2 days when I originally swapped from the single rate tariff they put me on when I originally joined to Go tariff so I cannot understand this unless it is due to Covid19.

    I will keep you updated.

I received an email the following day to say I was now on Tracker V1 😁 so obviously crossed wires somewhere. The rates were cheap this weekend too.

    Thanks everyone

Unfortunately the data is still missing. Not only that but the API smart meter data is constantly around 3 days behind. Anybody know what's happening? Octopus just say "we're aware".

I keep historical records of usage, but some are missing. Hitherto one could get a copy from the website, but now  they have vanished.
    Seems hardly customer friendly
  • I’m impressed with with Octopus’s commitment to green energy and innovative smart tariffs, that for me has resulted in lower energy bills. They replaced my SMETS1 meter with the latest SMETS2 meters, which other energy companies refused to do. They let you to pay for what energy you use each month, again which few energy companies do. What lets then down though, is the means to view and analyse energy usage. Their app has minimal functionality and hasn’t been updated for nearly three years. The in-home display they supply with smart meters doesn’t work with their smart tariffs, yet they don’t tell you this. Online usage is limited to informing you what is used each day, and doesn’t include the cost. For an energy company that is technically advanced in most areas, it is a curious and disappointing omission. Even inferior companies like British Gas and Ovo are more advanced in this area.

If you have an iPhone, the independent Octopus Energy Watchdog app is much better. It only works for Agile, I think, but gives more information than you can get from your official Octopus account, such as the total cost for the past 30 days.
It also shows usage information for gas, but the API doesn't allow the cost to be calculated.
