My contract with Octopus ends soon, but from the impeccable way they operate I would not dream of going with anyone else. Just have to decide if I am going fixed or variable tariff for the next year.
... and keep in mind that you can change at any point as there are no penalties for changing during the term of a fixed tariff...

Switched to them about 12 months ago and never had any issues with the switch or supply since.
I've found them great on email and changed my tariff several times (usually a note on your bill that let's you know).

Before I email Octopus to switch to the tracker tariff, am I right in thinking that the comma in the figures on Nordpool are actually a decimal point e.g. 28,96 is actually 28.96? I'm just trying to put together a spreadsheet so I can keep track of it.

One thing I'm curious about is the "industry coefficient" they use to calculate the unit rate if you don't have a smart meter, any idea what this is? Or do they just average the Nordpool rate across the month? Also, how often are you giving meter readings on the tracker tariff?

I have just gone over to this, I plan to give meter reading each day as is easy for me to do so, if monthly readings are given they average out the daily rates over a month, i would say comma is actually a decimal point, When I was with Bulb I switched Gas to Utility Point hence just E with Octopus

    Electricity
    Octopus Tracker v1
This tariff ends on 13th April 2021
Unit rate 9.44p per kWh Standing charge16.88p per day
    (All rates inc. VAT)

Thanks for confirming how they calculate it mate. I'm assuming the unit rate on the tariff is just an example, as they show their calculation the tracker FAQ page?

No, the tariff description in your account shows the actual price for that day in your region.

Just in case you're not aware, you'll get a PDF statement from them every day if you submit daily readings :)

Umiamz Thanks for much for your posts mentioning tracker tariff, first time I was put off by it being stated that have to register interest for an invite, second time you mentioned it, I then noticed Standing Charge alone was cheaper than bog standard tariffs, I did try the link to register an interest just sent me to quote page with just usual three tariffs offered, I emailed mentioning that on Friday initially received reply on Friday with links I was already aware of, first thing today Octopus changed tariff

Been reading much here about different suppliers. My mind's a bit boggled at the moment. I've been with Bulb for a few years but thinking of switching on the basis of price.
I have Octopus, Orbit or So in mind.
Has anyone got any views on current comparison both on price and service?
Many thanks for any feedback/help/guidance/tips you can give. Much appreciated.

Switched to Octopus about a month ago, generally been pretty happy with them. Communication has been good when I've had to contact them (particularly considering the current circumstances), and they've been able to re-connect my Smart meters, and I can see the halfhourly usage on the website, which has been handy for seeing where all the extra energy I've been using over the last few weeks has been going. I have an E7 meter but my usage suits a single rate tariff, CEC required me to sign up to the E7 version, Octopus were able to switch me to the single rate version of my selected tariff before the switch completed. The only snag is my IHD still shows the wrong electricity tariff, but I've not been bothered enough by that to chase them up on it.
