fat-pudding said:It gets even better with these utter jokers, due to them failing to correct the meter details so I can transfer to a vaguely competent supplier they have now decided that they want to increase the DD due to my usage. They sent an email on the 5th March stating "If I don't hear from you, I'll adjust your monthly payments to £126.39, starting with your March payment, which will get our account balance back on track over the next 12 months."
I replied immediately to their email and told them to not change my DD as I'm leaving and expect them to compensate me, today I get an email telling me that they are taking £126.39 via DD. If they actually take that amount later this month I'm tempted to invoke the DD guarantee to annoy them now as they are beyond useless.
Why would they compensate you?
If your account goes into credit just get it refunded back, even after you switch away.0 -

They won't let you - the Exlusive and Uswitch tariffs are for new customers only. A colleague of mine tried this morning and was told exactly that.Taken from Octopus Energy Facebook thread today :....." I see that you are now engaged in ‘New Customers Only’ tariffs through Money Supermarket! Not what I expect of Which recommended supplier"

"Octopus Energy Hi ......l, just to confirm, all our tariffs that are available to new customers are also applicable to our existing customers as its the fairest way to go about it! Do let us know if you'd prefer the Money Supermarket tariff and we can help"I can confirm that, I've changed onto one of the 'Exclusive' gas tariffs twice now while already being with Octopus on a 'normal' tariff..All it took was one email requesting the change and less than 24 hours later the change was confirmed.Tariff changes are one of the things that the email route works great for, more complex issues not so much, but a simple change like this is easy via e-mail.Octopus Exclusive Online 12M Fixed April 2020 v1 - Appears to be same rates as March2020v2 only noticed it after I received 1st reply today
For benefit of existing Octopus customers, today after receiving this response "Unfortunately the tariff Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed March 2020 v2 is for our new customers"I replied quoting Octopus Facebook response on same subject that is within above quotes and quoting and linking above post, I then received this response :"Thank you for the information. All is fine, I have switched you to Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed March 2020 v2, as requested. Start date: 8th April 2020"

Protip: Octopus only display their "most popular" tariffs on their website. If you email them asking for all of their currently available tariffs they will email you a full list (Saves time having to check around). You can then email them back requesting to be switched on to your preferred tariff.
This is how I managed to get us on to the "uSwitch Octopus 24M Fixed March 2019 v2" tariff after joining them directly through a referral link back in 2019.Pennies holding up the Pounds.0 -

No need to email asking for available tariffs https://octopus.energy/tariffs/Seemingly sometimes they will say Yes other times No about switching existing customers to an Exclusive TariffuSwitch Octopus 24M Fixed March 2019 - Is more expensive for both fuels than recently released Exclusive Tariffs and same rates as 1 year i took out last June ( April 2019 tariff), so no advantage as energy rates have been falling hugely this year.

Interestingly back in 2019 I found a forum post stating there were other tariffs available that weren't on that page. Needless to say, when I received their response it contained tariffs that weren't on that page. Hoepfully they've updated that page to show all tariffs now as it'd definately save them some admin!
I've had my tariff plugged into the MSE Energy Club since we joined, and it's not shown any massive savings worth leaving the tariff. Even on Octopus's bill recommendation it's literally pennies if we switched, so happy where we are at the mo. I have been looking at their agile tariff recently, but need to do a bit more research first before making a decision.Pennies holding up the Pounds.0
