    Sorry if question already answered, I have not read the whole thread. I am on an Octopus fixed tariff about to expire, I just noticed MSE CEC offers to "switch" to the latest Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed April 2020 v2 with cashback. Can I get the cashback if I switch via the MSE CEC link (even if I will not have actually left Octopus so technically am not a new customer for Octopus) ?

    Umiamz Thanks for much for your posts mentioning tracker tariff, first time I was put off by it being stated that have to register interest for an invite, second time you mentioned it, I then noticed Standing Charge alone was cheaper than bog standard tariffs, I did try the link to register an interest just sent me to quote page with just usual three tariffs offered, I emailed mentioning that on Friday initially received reply on Friday with links I was already aware of, first thing today Octopus changed tariff
    I am currently on Octopus Go as we had ordered an electric car but with the current situation we will be waiting a while.

    With us not benefitting from the cheap night time rates I am wondering if it is worth changing to the Tracker tariff as my daytime rates are 
    13.97kwh
    25.00 standing charge

    Agile would probably be expensive as we do use the oven in peak times. There are 3 of us at home long term at the moment as I am in the extremely vulnerable group so homeworking for my partner and gaming PC for my teenage son.

    Can I do this online or do I need to contact them, they managed to swap my smart meter to them so getting 30min readings so I presume it will be pretty accurate without me giving readings?

    Hi Jojomissy, I would say you'd benefit more from the Tracker tariff, as the standing charge rates are much lower already.

    I switched to the tracker tariff starting the 1st May simply by emailing them and requesting my tariff be switched on that date, they emailed to confirm it'd been done.

    Yes, I'd switch to the tracker tariff in your circumstances.  .. and yes, you'll need to email them to request it.
    The smart meter should give them the daily reading they need for maximum accuracy, although a smart meter is not actually a requirement for the tracker tariff.

    The smart meter should give them the daily reading they need for maximum accuracy, although a smart meter is not actually a requirement for the tracker tariff.
    They should use smart meter readings for tracker, but they don't always. I've never really got to the bottom of why, when they have all the data. They never seem to understand what I'm getting at when I tell them they haven't used the actual daily readings to accurately work out the daily usage. The last 2 months they've just taken the monthly reading and worked out an 'industry average' usage for each day. It probably doesn't make a great deal of difference in the end because the daily rate hasn't fluctuated that much, but it's the principle.

    They can use the daily readings and have done most months. It's just the last couple of months that they've not been doing it. It's clearly wrong to say that it won't make any difference at all, but that's what they've been told to say...
    Having said that, I've only received an electricity statement this month from them - no gas statement at all yet.

    Check your gas usage in the web portal, odds are you have a day or two missing, or missing periods within a day. That will stop the automatic bill production from running. They can recover the missing data of course so I'd drop them an email to nudge things along ( smart@octopus.energy)
