For me the last time I received a bill with start and end "readings" was December 2021. These are not real readings, because I am Profile 2 and they only provided a total for my two registers, they would not have been acceptable for billing or change of supplier. Only when I was on Flexible did they provide actual readings that could have been used. Makes sense that they pulled the misleading readings, but they should have figured out by now how to replace them with a true itemised reading of all non-zero registers.

I wonder if it’s because mine are Secure SMETS1 meters? I’ve gone back through every statement since July 2019 and they all have start and end smart meter readings.

I can see meter readings on my bills for gas which is on the Tracker tariff but not for electricity on Agile.

Tracker is not a time-of-use tariff - hence the need for meter readings. As you know, Go; Agile and Intelligent bill on 30 minute usage which is why my electricity account hasn’t shown any automatic readings for the past 3 years. On occasions when automatic billing has failed and I have requested a manual data pull, the electricity bill appears with meter readings. My meters are SMETS2.
  • Does what you say chime with my own situation?
Gas - non smart  meter - Tracker - manual readings - shown and used by the invoice

Elec - smart meter - Go Faster - automatic readings I assume but not shown on invoice - but I assume used in the background to calculate my consumption "blind"

I am tempted to submit a voluntary interim elec  reading on line occasionally to trigger a data pull to see if that reveals the readings [which should also trigger a W-o-F spin as a reward which otherwise goes begging)

Go Faster billing is based purely on the XML usage data file that is returned by the meter. Billing costs are calculated on usage per 30minute period * kWh used: meter readings are ignored. The loss or corruption of one 30 minute data slot results in a billing failure.

While it doesn't add meter readings to the bill, meter readings can be seen in the Octopus app (but not via the website).
  • Not simple. XML usage data must correlate to month end  meter readings and v/v

As said the app has the monthly meter readings. The only caveat with these is that the day and night readings given will not necessarily align with your off-peak period for charging purposes. In total however it ties back to the bill.

I'm moving in February to a property on Octopus without smart meters

I am currently with OVO smart meter and the information you can get online is great although IMO the company is not

My question is what information can you see on Octopus website ?
What information are you looking for?
I’m with Octopus but don’t often look at my online account as the app gives me what I need:
Daily usage shown in 30 min slots as a graph, weekly, monthly & annual. Gas details lag behind.
I can check usage back to smart meter install in Sept last year.
Also shows tariffs, bills, transactions ie DD, gov credit, charges, refunds etc & current balance & I can enter manual meter readings.

Probably shows more that I haven’t looked for😊 What are you hoping to see?
