Don't they use your consumption profile rather than a simple average? Won't it also depend on what dates you submit meter readings?SGB89 said:I've asked the owner of that tracker website to implement average pricing since the daily rate isn't particularly helpful when you are being billed on a monthly average.

It's not a simple average - this was explained a couple of pages back.SGB89 said:I've asked the owner of that tracker website to implement average pricing since the daily rate isn't particularly helpful when you are being billed on a monthly average.

I had the same experience, shed to switch to Octopus for gas supply (already with them for electricity) and during the cooling off period they switched Tracker v2 to v3.SGB89 said:.
So if you have been quoted/given v2 prices and yet ended up on v3 I would try to insist you be put on v2.
I questioned this based on fact I'd specifically requested to switch to the v2 tariff and it wasn't my fault that I was held in the cooling off period waiting for the switch to complete (as it turns out as a consumer you can actually waive the cooling off period).
Octopus agreed to honour the v2 tariff which is a win as I only wanted the cheap standing charge - 'only' 15p a day vs the extortionate figures companies are charging nowadays. Having got PV and recently fitted an ASHP the only gas we are now using is to cook on the hob.0 -

They based this sloping estimate on the opening and closing readings. Because the price varied during the period (generally, cheaper at the start and higher at the end) I was charged more for the lower-usage days than the higher ones.Friday the 13th was my cheapest day (8.0kWh, 19p) and Thursday the 19th my most expensive (7.2kWh, 35p). Plus SC in both cases. If you're on Tracker you'll find this info on your account.(Today, per Guy Lipman, wholesale gas is over 5p/kWh for the first time in a month. The Tracker price is working out around 7p/kWh, still a little cheaper than the cap.)N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. I too am on Gas Tracker without a smart meter. I notice on my usage data that though it does as Qrizb says generally have gradually declining estimated use it does have slight increases in use on certain days.

If you are on tracker V2 you are only paying 15p SC compared to 27p on Octopus Flexible, so 12p cheaper, whereas V3 is the same SC.
At what point does the gas price work out higher on tracker V2 than Octopus variable rate?
For V3 I assume as soon as the unit price is higher then the Octopus Flexible price.0 -

For V3 I assume as soon as the unit price is higher then the Octopus Flexible price. The answer depends on how much gas you are using...In short, the break-even point in terms of consumption will be the difference between the daily standing charges divided by the difference between the kWh price and the variable tariff kWh price (once the tracker rate exceeds the capped variable rate)...

I thought that Tracker v2 has (had?) a capped gas unit rate of 6p/kWh?

If for example I use 12kw or roughly 1 therm of gas per day then my break even Point would be 8.28 pkw/h i.e. or 1p above the Flexible tariff of 7.28pkw/h. If I only use 6kw per day then the bwakeupalarm said:If you are on tracker V2 you are only paying 15p SC compared to 27p on Octopus Flexible, so 12p cheaper, whereas V3 is the same SC.

v2 - Product cap increased to max 11pkWh - SC stayed same - You can see todays rate on your dashboard -
v3 - SC increased as well as max 11pkWh product cap1
