Telegraph_Sam said:Everything is possible particularly at present but I ask myself what particular attributes heat pump people (or any other target group) would have in order to justify creating a tariff just for them? The cynic in me says it would be purely for marketing reasons alongside other tariffs for say microwave oven owners and the like
. Speculation ..

"...probably a pure coincidence that an EV will tend to consumer significantly more energy than anything else in the home. Heat pumps would be a good second option to branch out with"
Which comes back to my original point: Whether, as full capacity is reached, it makes sense to offer super cheap deals to large consumers (EVs) any more than to anyone else. The arguments for heat pump tariffs must be different - purely as means to encourage sales of their own products
Just to clarify - I have no connection with the Octopus Marketing or R & D Departments and am not privy to what motivates them in their decision makingTelegraph Sam

I'm on Go Faster but haven't had any emails myself stating this (yet).1 -

This only confirms the suspicions raised by a few of us recently. Whilst I am still struggling to understand the logic in this move, Octopus are obviously at liberty to phrase their conditions as they wish. Hopefully by the time my / our existing GF tariffs expire there will be acceptable alternatives without EV strings attached. [Has anyone got a spare EV that I could borrow and register at this address??]Telegraph Sam
