Iresa Limited - New Energy Company?

Been with Iresa now since Feb. Had no probs switching over however I am getting a bit sick of their slow website and difficulty in submitting meter readings which are buried within the site and you have to select each meter. The website times out half the time.
I have a smart meter and they do not support them as yet. I am debating switching to EON which would cost me £21 a year more on a current deal but its fixed in for 12 months with a £60 exit fee so not sure whether to hold out as IRESA doesn't charge an exit fee.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Yes, switching away is an option but it doesn't get around the billing problem which gas consumers are experiencing. Over 3 months ago, I asked Iresa to reverse an incorrect bill (as the start date and meter readings were wrong) and re-issue it. To date, there has been total inaction and no further bills.
If we had a problem like that with Iresa (or any other company with no exit fee), if not sorted quickly, we would have started a switch to another supplier within a month. Not leave it over three months for them to sort out. A few weeks would only be a few pounds difference (for us), rather than over 3 months worth of possible errors and all the ongoing hazzle.0 -

Ever the optimist, I hope that they can get their act together as the failure of a supplier does no one any favours. That said, a budget airline flying from London to Malta in a 737 has to work to, and comply with, the same Licence regulations as, say, BA operating the same aircraft on the same route. There is no point in having Ofgem if they do not police the Licences that they issue. I appreciate that 'ditch and switch' - particularly if it is done by many - does serve a purpose. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Can someone help?
I too contacted Iresa Energy to join up and have now passed the 14 day cooling off period. They are about to take the first direct debit, but there is no early exit fee.
They tell me via email that they will begin my supply around 16th May
Am I still free to leave them as I cannot see in the contract if there is any clause where I am liable to pay anything
I cannot work with a company that I cannot speak with (1 hour on phone today) and still cant get through and no response to email sent monday0 -

You can leave them at anytime but it will not stop the transfer going through. They will take a DD shortly. What you cannot do is cancel after the 14 day 'cooling off' period. If you want to return to your present supplier then you will have to apply to switch back to them with all that this entails. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Not suprised that you are being optimistic and hope they get it right in the end. Putting in perspective, the difference is Calorific Value being used works out at about £4/year for just over 10,000kWh of gas (about average for most users).
Doubt if there are any other tariffs available that would work out better value. It is not right that they are using the incorrect CV, but it looks like the savings outweigh the error compared to any other company.0 -

That isn't a defence in my opinion. If, as reported, Iresa has 70k customers then .... do the sums yourself. Ofgem has said in its policy letter that strong enforcement action will be taken against any supplier in breach of this particular Regulatory requirement. Try looking at it from another compliant supplier's point of view. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

2. Direct debit payments are taken on or around 20th of each month see http://www.iresa.co.uk/frequently-asked-questions/ (this date cannot be changed by you)
3. The bill for the previous month's usage is supposed to be available around the 10th of each month.
I tend to ignore the meter reading email reminders and provide my meter readings on the last day of each month.ASavvyBuyer wrote: »Answers, from our experience, added above in bold, underlined italics.0 -

I received my first email from Iresa for a meter reading in the early hours today. I never got one asking for readings when I should of received one when the switch over took place. I suppose that I should be pleased that they remembered me this time. lol0
