It would appear that on this occasion this action was taken by Ofgem due to Iresa's appalling levels of customer care.
Hopefully further action will follow regarding Iresa's non-compliance with the terms and conditions of their Operators Licenses specifically their current inability to correctly bill customers for their gas usage.

Okay then on the time scale but it does show the hands off approach from the Regulator in not having a system in place to check new entrants to the market are actually following the rules.
So OFGEM still have to take some responsibility for the vetting and inadequate checks on the processes that should be followed.0 -
My gas bill dated 11th April 2017 has been calculated on the wrong calorific value also I think.
They've used 40.0 when they should be using 39.6 (possibly 39.5) for the period 2nd March to 23rd March 2017 (NW region).
Only makes about 29p difference, but extrapolated to a whole year that would be over £4 of an overcharge.I came, I saw, I melted0 -

Posted this in the other thread I suggested you take a look at, but I'll post it here too now0 -
Are you talking about the In House Display or the actual meter? As far as I am aware, all gas meters irrespective of their age measure the volume of the gas supplied to your property - either in cubic feet or cubic meters. The gas supplier is then required to convert this volume into kWhs using data (the calorific value) supplied to it by the National Grid.
Further to my previous answer(s), I did take the meter readings from the In House Display and they are in KWh. However, I have just accessed the actual meter in the meter cupboard and it does not display any meter reading in any units, nor are there any instructions on how to display a reading. Pressing button A fails to display a reading as does pressing button B. There is also a numeric pad.0 -
Picture please?
Sounds as if the display has failed, in which case you'll need to get them to change the meter. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

A and B are used by people who have them set up as prepayment. Press 9 on the electric meter for 'IMP KWH' (Imported kWh) or 6 if you used to have Economy 7 (in which case you need IMP R01 and IMP R02 for day and night. Gas is just 9 for m³

I initiated a switch on 10th April but decided to stay with current supplier as I have been burnt before when switching to cheaper broadband and it was a lousy service. I sent email to Iresa on 22nd April cancelling switch. I then got an email on 24th saying it was going ahead and they were about to take direct debit. I emailed them again cancelling and saying I could not access my online account for which they had proved password. I phoned current supplier and they said NO Switch had been initiated, and there was nothing on database either. Advised to phone Iresa, which I duly did and was Caller No 26. Not prepared to wait I phoned again and chose a different number on their switchboard.
I was now No 1. I still waited 15 minutes for a reply. They agreed to cancel as this was 14th day of the cooling off. I asked for dd to be cancelled and confirmation in writing of cancellation. I will wait and see. My advice is the cheapest is not always the best.0 -
Its you that needs to cancel the DD, as the account holder. All Iresa can do is choose not to draw on it. In my bitter experience, the sole thing that Iresa are very efficient at is taking my monthly DD.
As for getting written confirmation, then (to misquote Captain Mainwaring), 'I think we're getting into the realms of fantasy here. Daedo17'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
