Those sandwich thins are 5 syns each New Me. Are they thick enough to use as a pitta type sandwich?
I'm roughly following the SW principals while calorie counting. Good advice though in case it had an adverse affect on those who are strict with their syns. In my head I was thinking they were valid as HEx as the wholemeal thins are, and Rye is a pretty healthy grain. I've checked and they are the same KCal, but the kingsmill WM thins are 2.5g of fibre and the Rye ones 1.5g fibre.
They don't curl as much as the WM ones when toasted, and hold up well to having as an open sandwich. There was discussion about how best to do pulled pork in the SC as some were saying that they throw away the sauce because it's vinegary and just eat the flavoured meat. I haven't had pulled pork since Tesco changed the recipe. Any recommendations for a good recipe?
I use the one linked form the first page of this thread and it is fantastic. This one - http://www.slimmingeats.com/blog/slow-cooker-pulled-pork#.U_m7jxt0w5s
I don't always have all the ingredients and just swap out what I do have.
NorthLondonChick I make noodles that way too. You can use noodles which take longer to cook, but you have to cook and cool them beforehand.0 -

Feel better soon Shala, well done on that loss!
Yep that's me Greentiger - Smoggy through and through
Wiggly - here's the baked oats recipe - instead of fruit though I use grated carrot (I don't weigh it, just use about the same volume as the oats) and add cinnamon. I make them in muffin tins so they're like little carrot cake muffinsAlso I never syn garlic puree but the one I use (just Tesco own brand) is oil free. Some do have oil though, so always check the label.
I use the Very Lazy chopped garlic in a jar, I believe it's Syn-free. (Please don't say otherwise!!)Anyhow. I caught a clip of the health programme that was on last night and saw that the male participant had an all singing all dancing spreadsheet to help plan his menus and food choices. Does anyone use anything like this?
I'd be interested to know how he uses spreadsheets for this purpose, I love a good spreadsheet! I'm quite old school, I have a magnetic weekly planner from Paperchase and I sit on a weekend with all my mags and recipe books and plan my meals for the week while making a shopping list (taking into account everything I'm doing that week - working hours, exercise classes and so on), and then I have a small notebook I carry about with me noting everything I eat. As long as I stick to both elements it works well!
Speaking of which, Yesterday was v busy and I only ate one proper meal then managed to consume 32 Syns in between. Gah. Not even on anything exciting - a Kit Kat here, a Malted Milk there...
WI tomorrow so today has been positively :A
B - Apple and coffee (pt HExA, 2 Syns)
D - Bacon, Asda kids' waffles (3 Syns), beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, 1 slice crustless toast (pt HExB), Flora Light (0.5 Syn)
T - Diet cola chicken with AB's carrot and swede mash (0.5 Syn)
Other - Brazil nuts (pt HExB), NAS Ribena, hot choc later (2 Syns)
TOTAL: 8 Syns
Happy birthday for tomorrow Lantanna!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Sorry this is off topic but brilliant ending to your game greentiger. Looked as if you were under the cosh but came OK in the end. Onwards and upwards!:D0

Hello All
My diary today was:
Breakfast: black coffee, 35g blueberry Wheats with 1 apple, 1 plum, strawberries and raspberries and 2 teaspoon dollops of fat free yoghurt.
Lunch: 2 x carrots with 2 X teaspoons fat free yoghurt as a dip , a beetroot and a tin of mackeral in brine.
Dinner: salad on half my plate (lettuce, spinach, cherry tomatoes) with quark pasta carbonara (quark, 2 X eggs, tofu, stock cube, onion, green beans, prawns, pasta)
And a 3 miles walk to track down where to buy quark!
Total: 0.5 syns which seems suspiciously low for such a tasty day?
I have carbonara sauce left over. Does anyone know if it will keep for tomorrow? It's just a mixture of quark and raw eggs but it's the raw eggs I'm unsure about. It's covered and in the fridge....

My scales this morning said a half pound loss which I'm happy with given a few naughty treats this week, but going to (hopefully) my new group at lunchtime today. So expecting a gain according to SW as my old group was first thing so I would go on an empty stomach. But there's no way I'm not eating or drinking until then! Will take whatever it is and just draw a line, but hoping it'll be small so I keep my current shiny.
NLC - I would use the sauce if it smells fine. I haven't done it as I don't like carbonara, but I can't see the harm as long as it's heated thoroughly. I was on a syn free day yesterday until DH brought out the Bournville after dinner. But it's quite easy to eat well without dipping into syns, as so much is free! Most of the time my meals are free, it's always snacks where I use up syns fast.

dropping in to report a happy -5lb at weigh in yesterday
so I got my 1/2st shiny and slimmer of the week after last weeks maintain!
today I am at an event 11am-1pm with work where lunch is included but I'm going to account for as many syns as I can then brush myself off and get on with another good week.
if I lose 1lb next week I'll be in a new stone bracket and if I have another cracking week I'd get my 1st sticker :P************************************
