I'm really struggling to see how I can get to a group again
I'm back working full time and usually my OH is away with work so I'm home with the 2 kids. They go to bed at 7.
Does anyone do it from home? Can you get the same results? do you get the same certificates?Trying to get on top of finances one step at a time0 -

I do go to group but I'd say for the past four months or so, I really haven't gotten anything from it other than a number on the scales. I've lost about 2st in that time, so it's definitely possible to do it without group support. Forums like here and minimins or various social media channels (Instagram especially) are FAR more supportive than my group has ever been.
As an online member, you do get the awards but generic online pictures of them only - nothing is sent out to you. If you log into the website now (assuming you've been using their weight tool - it doesn't autolink to group) and go to your awards section, that's exactly what you'll get.
Unless you need access to the syns calculator, I wouldn't bother with online membership as there's basically no support or community there. You can just enter your weight once a week and look up the member only content. It's expensive just for that!
As you might have guessed, I'm really not a fan of their website. :rotfl:0 -
No I agree with the lack of actual SW online support. I want to go to group as it keeps me focused, I can see if I did it alone I'd just "forget" or be too busy to go and get weighed (I don't have scales at home).

Any way my plans for today foodwise:
B: Bag of baked walkers (7.5syns, refuse to give up crisps), apple, banana, mullerlight yogurt
L: Undecided, meeting until 1pm then I finish for the day.
T: Baked spuds with beans, cheese (HeA) and side salad with honey & mustard dressing (2syns)Trying to get on top of finances one step at a time0 -

I've been going to group for 7 weeks and I've lost 7lbs in that time, prior to that I was doing it on my own and managed to lose 2.5 stone with the help and support of this thread so it is possible to go it alone, and much cheaper.
Like June, I'm not sure what I get out of the class - I didn't even get a sticker for my half stone as they'd run out! :rotfl: I wanted something to re-focus my mind as I felt my weight loss was slowing down and it has done that. I also wanted a reason to have a morning off from running the shop with DH - he's gone off to play golf every week for 3 years so I wanted some me time too.. Maybe I'll give up going to class and just go shopping instead.

Morning all, reporting a 4.5lb loss this morning :j That's a good chunk of the 6lb I put on over the last fortnight. One pound away from getting under 12st (again) so that's my focus for this week.
My grandma gave me a ribeye steak which I plan on having for tea with roast veg and I might attempt SW chips for the first time too. But how should I syn the steak as it has a lot of fat running through it?I figure it's probably better than a takeaway in any case and that's what I'd normally have on a Friday night!
Wiggly I agree with the others. I've never actually been to a group but I started out as an online member and thought the website was rubbish. I did WW before and although I didn't like the plan (because in reality I will always choose a 210 cal Wispa over two 100 cal bananas), I thought the website and app was good. I bought the SW food directory while I was a member and otherwise rely on the magazine, this thread and google!
Have a good day all, it's just started to pee down here as soon as I switched the washer on.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

According to the website, EPC garlic in white wine vinegar is free as is ginger and chillies.I'd be interested to know how he uses spreadsheets for this purpose, I love a good spreadsheet! I'm quite old school, I have a magnetic weekly planner from Paperchase
I watched the programme as well and I think he could have a limited number of portions of different food groups each day, therefore limiting less healthy foods. I'm not sure I could make that work with EE but I used to do something similar with Red and Green days.
I like the sound of your planner.

If you can't get to a group could you weigh weekly at your GPs or Boots? My surgery has a pod where you can weigh and check BP. I check my BP every 3 months as I was on anti-hypertensives until losing weight. I've lost 2 stone 10 without joining. This thread is my group tho I don't post much. Too busy in real life0 -
Had a day at the cricket yesterday and was really good. I took all my own food and a flask of coffee. Going again on Sunday but that might be more difficult as hubby will also be there and he is always tempted.
Today I'm doing 2chubbys salt and pepper chicken with rice and sw chips for tea. I'm really trying to mix up our meals and have added two new things to the meal plan. This is one and the Austrian hash is the other.
If I don't lose this week I'll be foaming!
Anyway, lunch will be HM soup and a toastie (a + b)
Breakfast was banana and yogurt on the go.
Syns will be a gin and slim before tea.
Catch you later.0 -
Happy Birthday lantanna. I'll raise a glass of syns for you this evening. Have a good day!:A
Wow lush and tete, those are brilliant losses!:T
lush, you really seem to be on a roll at the moment. The dress will need lots of taking in at this rate. Pleased to hear that your OH is watching his own weight too (or at least you're watching it for him;)) might save you some work doing different foods too.
tete, I'd just count the steak as free. Obviously cut off any obvious fat on the edges before you eat it but don't worry about the rest. Allow a few syns if you like but don't beat yourself up about it.
It's perfectly possible to carry on without going to group wiggly and although I've never tried it myself I've not heard any positive reports from anywhere about online membership. I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend and as a mse thread we shouldn't be advocating wasting money. Where I live there are 2 or 3 groups on most days in some part of the city including 5.30 p.m. groups but you'd only have time to weigh and go so other than online access to syns there's little point. I suppose another option is to pay for childcare once a week if DH is away but that's all adding to the expense. Why not try going alone (with the help of this lovely thread of course) and see what happens.
Looking at your menu for today wiggly, I hope you manage plenty of Speed for lunch as I can only see side salad and an apple so far. Although (without trying to confuse you) if you had no meat it could be a Green day.NorthLondonChick wrote: »Total: 0.5 syns which seems suspiciously low for such a tasty day?
Are you saving them NLC? Otherwise there's no need to forego syns.
ETA: Just remembered you're reining them back!:o
My EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, bacon, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast
L: ham with bubble & squeak from LOs and pickles.chicken and med veg (courgette, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, garlic) tray bake with new potatoes and green medley (asparagus, mange tout, peas).
Syns: squirt of HP sauce, birthday drinks with lantanna
The veg for tonight's meal is to clear bits out of the fridge drawer but may add more after shopping.0
